Dash gets your pet to the target faster (or seems faster anyways) while Charge actually has a combat benefit.
I went with Charge myself.

You wouldn't want charge on a DPS PVE pet for the simple fact that it generates threat.
Generally speaking, a Hunter *wants* their pet to generate threat, and lots of it, in PVE. I'm not really sure what you mean here in suggesting we'd want to avoid threat generation. I will guess you're referring to raid situations (given your Kara example) but there's a lot more than just raiding. And, in a raid, with Growl turned off, the threat generated by Charge isn't likely to pull aggro off your tanks. If it does, that says more about the tanks than it does about Charge.

He was suggesting that "threat" is bad in a raid situation but your pet isnt generating enough threat to pull agro from a tank. So that argument is mute. I personally chose Charge for the possible stun, dmg, and the attack power boost from it. I use a Devilsaur as a raid pet and if im spending any focus i want it to be well spent. so 30 focus to get him to the fight quicker or 35 focus to get him there and raise his ap by 25%. only makes sense to chose charge.
Here is a link to a pet build id suggest.

Charge has a shorter CD, but also has the disadvantage of a distance limitation. Dash has a longer CD, but has no distance limitation, just a time duration limit. Thus, if you are standing at maximum distance......the pet will not charge right away, but will dash right away.

Charge because of the damage bonus, as well as getting your pet into the fight much faster from a pre-boss-pull point of view. However, this means you have to spend 1 filler point in the first tier of your pet's talents simply to get to tier 2, which can be considered either a bad or a good thing. Personally i prefer using it as a filler since I can get the 4% more stam for my pet, as the more health the less likely it is to die from accidental pulls or take a few extra hits when needed.
