So im making my first main on a new account and was wondering if a hunter was a good idea... i like hunters because:
-they have pets
-they use ranged weapons more than anyone
-they have pets
-theyre not over the top hard to use
-they have mail armor
-THEY HAVE PETS!
But if you guys want to throw any other suggestions for a first main please do... i am open to recommendation.

... god, there are certain things I miss about FFXI, and classes are probably the only one actually. Screw the rest of that game... <_< (I miss farming as a RDM/DRG and then getting a group... seeing the "wtf" comments always made me chuckle)
on topic:
You apparently like pets OP... so yeah, go with Hunters. Unless you like demons more, then try a Warlock.

Hunters are a lot of fun, I had an absolute blast when I leveled one. I haven't touched it in a few years, but they seems to have a diverse play style with all the different types of pets available. Solid choice for a new character.

I love playing a Hunter- have tried several other classes, and always come back. It's a lot of fun, especially if you are into the pet collecting aspect of the game (which, for some reason, I get the sense you might be- lol). It is NOT, however, a rotation you can macro into one button- apparently you used to be able to do that in Vanilla, but since then it's evolved a bit.
Recommend BM for leveling, then SV for raiding.

Go for it my main is a hunter and it's a ton of fun, so much things to do, then again like most people have said go with what you feel like.
