Hmm.... Disc priest as a dps....
Well i guess its like the lolsmite or the old ret pally. Its going to be very hard to be taken seriously. I'm surprised you get a group actually. Although as far as loot goes you should be allowed to roll on anything with spellpower on it and you appear to be getting bullied and ninja'd :-( don't group with them again.
As for speccing shadow but not taking shadowform..... why? For roleplay or something?
You sound like you intentionally want to nerf yourself. We have 2 good healing specs and 1 good dps spec. You are free to play as you like ofc, but people won't really understand it and it may cause things like you getting robbed out of gear as you said :-(

There is no such thing as a divide between "Healing cloth gear" and "DPS cloth gear".
Hit rating? oh wait, you're right, god I hate it when those darn tanks resist my heals.
and yeah, it would probably be hard to be taken seriously as a dps disc priest, but it is definitely possible.
well except for hit rating all cloth gear can be rolled on for DPS and Healing Casters
hopefully though the druids and pallys you run with will pass on it for the leather and plate caster gear they can get which we cant

dps = hit and more crit..... as priests we are not crit dependant although our crits cause some nice effects... and as healers we dont need hit... i agree with

Maybe I missed this, but what is your role in the raid? Are you healing or are you DPS? If you are healing, then pass on +hit gear unless for offspec. If you are DPSing, then role on any SP gear you need.
If the raid leader thinks otherwise, /gquit is your friend.
