Jinai blinked, but allowed the flame to dissipate with a few sparks left glimmering in the air before they winked out. She leaned back in her seat with an understanding nod, "Fire is a cleansing element," she explained, "and I plan on using it to aid in the greater wars, eventually."

Kaestan lead the way through the halls, eventually finding the way above deck. He strode across the deck, enjoying the view, sounds, and the water spraying on his face. There were others up here as well, and Kaestan tipped his head as they passed.
"Beautiful," he said quietly, leaning on the railing and looking out at the water.

"Hmm," Arthur replied, leaning on the rail. He pointed at a great stone coming forth in the distance, stalwartly rearing out amongst the trees and cresting near the waterway. An image who's lines glowed a steady ocean blue was carved upon the rock. "See that?" the studious youth asked. "One of the major runestones. It helps pop up a barrier around the school grounds to keep out most threats. They've been there since the school was founded, I've heard. It means we're coming close."

"Woah," Kaestan said quietly, looking out at the runic stone. "So is teleportation blocked to and from the school grounds? Unfortunately I havn't ready much about it..." he admitted, cheeks blushing slightly. "But I would assume so, if those runes provide a barrier."

"Makes sense," Kaestan concluded, drumming his fingers on the rail lightly. "But what happens in the case of a mass emergency? I would hope the Headmaster has thought of such precautions..." the elf murmured, watching the carved stone pass by.
He turned to Arthur. "Which reminds me, do you have an idea of why the Collegium Arcanum was closed to begin with? Unfortunately I was unable to find much information in the Scryer's collection..."

A drumming of the youths fingers on the railing began as her narrated the tale in a low, droning tone. "Apparently it was shut down during the Scourging of Lordaeron. A lot of the pupils had already been recalled home when everything started going to fel, and since it was so far north the plague didn't reach out here. But they shut down completely when they heard the Scourge was beginning to move in this direction, though the whole Forsaken rebellion curtailed that apparently. Who even knows if they were? There's a lot of mystery about those times. Still, people were too busy just surviving to worry about sending their kids to school, not that the instructors were around anyway.
"Last I heard, the place was pretty much empty until maybe a few years back. That's when the new headmaster showed up and got everything moving again." He shrugged. "Things are a bit iffy in the interm years, though apparently those runestones were still working and the place wasn't in too bad of shape."

"Hmm...." Kaestan murmured, processing the human's words. "Interesting. It certainly makes sense, though I believe education is of utmost importance... too bad in dire circumstances it is among the first to go," the elf said sadly.
"I can't wait to explore the grounds. I hear we're in the topmost towers? Perfect for astronomy," Kaestan said with a grin. "You'll have to get me updated on that book of yours," he chuckled.

Arthur nodded, watching as the obelisk drew nearer. he shivered as they passed it by, an invisibly prickling sensation coursing through his body as they passed through the barrier. The moment passed quickly, and soon the runestone began to retreat into the distance.

Kaestan felt his skin prickle and the hairs on his neck stand on end. He shivered slightly, feeling refreshed from the sensation. He stepped onto the first rung of the railing, leaning forward over the front of the boat and looking into the water.
