Comparing gemed items

When i compare items with the item comparison i always see any gemed items ratings are lackluster. Are they fully taken into account? And if they are taken into account i am sure it doesn't realize that i can gem it with my most highly rated stat (def/stam).

The item comparison tool unfortunately doesn't take gems into account yet. It's in progress. :)

I take gems into account by adding a custom weight worth of the gem.
For example, on my rogue, I will -always- put 10 +hit gems. Based off elitist jerks stats, 1 hit is worth 180 points. So a 10 hit gem slot is 1800.
Then I just add "1800" as the weight for "sockets" so for each socket it auto adds it in.
