It lacks the healing Talents necessary to heal well in a raid, and at the same time lacks the two major damage dealing spells from the Ret tree (Crusader Strike and Divine Storm), effectively hamstringing your DPS.
"Fail" might be a harsh word.
Okay, no, in this case it's really not. In terms of WoW, "hybrid" doesn't mean that you can do everything equally well; attempting to spec so that you can do so will gimp your ability to do
anything successfully. For raid heals, you need to be Holy primary, at minimum to the bottom of the tree for Beacon of Light (in my opinion).
If you're looking to be a healer who can also pump out some damage on occasion, I'd go with someone like
this. You'll have a very high crit chance, which will help you do burst damage as well as helping your healing and mana regen - plus the increased damage from your Judgements will help immensely, even if you won't often benefit from the increase to Seal damage during raids.

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sxA0xMzGbZaciAcuM0xIjust a quick tree.
i was thinking that if you wanted to do more than heal (ie dailies etc.) youd want a higher survivability rate, as even with the semi ret tree spec you wouldnt be able to put down enough damage before you took too much.
also, like xara said, youd more than likely be off heals. so the added buffs included would up you chance of actually being included.
i dont know, i did this real quick, so, take it for what it is.
