"So do you know what it is they've got, you want, whatever?" Vrell asked abruptly, twisting in her saddle to look at Hazel.
The historian, who appeared to have been lost in thought, took her time coming back into focus and glancing at the bounty hunter, "I do not, actually, know what it is. Only that it's very important, and I would like to come into possession of it--if only to study it."
"Can't you get like, papers for that?" the bounty hunter wondered aloud, turning her attention back to their unmarked road. The landscape was becoming flatter in places, rockier in others, the vegetation more sparse, and the air drier.
"Unfortunately, with the hunt for these objects, I fear that is not an option."

Badlands
Irwin laid on his stomach, using a pair of binoculars to scout the landscape.
"Sand, sand, sand.... oh, a plant."

"Hrm, perhaps we'll reach the camp faster than I thought," Hazel noted as the vegetation completely wore out to blistered red ground and rocky hills.
"There's a flatter area over here for the horses," Vrell said, lightly pressing her heels against the animal's chest to send him at a faster gallop across the border into the Badlands. The historian wasn't far behind, albeit at a slower pace as she struggled to keep control of her mare.

Coria

"The letter said it would be near!" Coria growled as she crumpled the letter in her hand. She scouted the area around her, trying her best to use the arcane to guide her to the fabled pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. So far, no dice. "I have come too far to give up." With that, she continued on, using her staff as a walking stick. She whistled a tune her mother taught her years ago as she focused on any fluxuations in the arcane nearby.

"Such objects should never be allowed within reach of those who seek them." Deteste nodded.

The two steeds and their riders crested the top of one of the rocky hills and looked out over the expanse that was the Badlands, somewhat shadowed in the partial light that was dwindling to evening. The breathless landscape was battered and obviously harsh, causing Hazel to purse her lips finely as she assessed their surroundings.
"By the time the sun drops, there'll be predators swarming," Vrell commented. "You think we can make it to the camp before then?"
"Most likely not. It would be proper to find shelter for a camp, in an area where we will be found by neither other people or the natives," Hazel replied.
"Gotcha," the bounty hunter nodded over her shoulder, taking off with her employer in her wake.

"Up ahead, here," Vrell looked over her shoulder and said, gesturing in the light darkness. The sun had more or less set, obscured by the peaks in the distance. Something growled in the shadows, but the bounty hunter ignored it as she headed towards the rocky cliff edge.
The horses, with an amount of difficulty, managed to make their way up a path that hadn't been trod in a long time, until the bounty hunter and the historian found a small cave nestled in the cliffside. They led the horses in the entrance and tied them down to a rock, so that predators wouldn't find them easily.
The pair of the women made their way to the far end of the cave, within sight of the horses.
"There is no firewood out there as far as I can see, but I can probably light some of the dead shrubbery for a fire," Hazel said quietly and Vrell nodded.

Irwin Rotbreath
Badlands
Irwin watched from a distance as the women retreated into the cave. He pulled his binoculars down, raising a decayed eyebrow in curiosity.
He could make it through the night, save some time and avoid the predators. But this peaked his curiosity...

: Vrell Haudin, Hazel
Location
: Badlands
It took at least half an hour for Vrell to search around in the darkness, and luckily avoid a particularly large mountain cat who's territory they had probably invaded, but the bounty hunter collected enough dead plants (and some live ones that she cut from the ground) to fuel a small fire. Soon she was back in the cave, where she helped Hazel arrange the plants.
The historian took it from there, using some flint and tinder they had packed in the saddlebags to light the plants. The fire that blazed was sporadic, flickering, and not very large, but it was good enough with the resources they had.

Vivias Blindhawk
Blasted Lands
The felguard raised its axe, hoping to deflect the assault as fel flamed erupted out of the double sided blade of the demon hunter.
Vivias leaped, coming down and cutting through the beast. Bringing her hand up, she took the fel magics into herself, watching through her blindfold and the magic as the lifeless husk fell to the ground.
The woman grumbled something under her breath, sheathing her warglaive.

"Ya know, I shoulda saved some of those sausages," Vrell muttered, her stomach growling briefly.
"Are you
still
hungry?" Hazel paused, arcing an eyebrow at the bounty hunter, who nodded.
"'course I am. I'm always hungry... never enough food in this line of work," she grumbled. "You want to get some sleep? I'll take watch, not really tired anyhow."
The historian nodded, getting her bedroll from her supplies and laying it out in the cave, as Vrell headed to the entrance to plop on a flatter rock and watch the entrance.

Irwin Rotbreath
Badlands
Irwin watched the cave for a moment more before he glanced around at his surroundings.
Sliding down behind his hill, he made his way up the cliff the cave had formed in, being sure to stay out of the entrance's line of sight.
A growling caught him off guard, a mountain lion approaching from behind him.
"Good kitty.... uh...." He looked around, and suddenly began to run for his life. The large cat gave chase.
