When he made it onto the ship and more than a little startled heads began to turn to him, Robert wordlessly took out a weighty sack with coins and shook it to make it jingle.
The damage done to the construct was too high for it to continue function normally, so it crouched, gathering itself into a smaller space and beginning to build up energy for one last attack.

"Who the fel are this lot?" demanded one of the crew members, evidently the captain - judging by his expensive clothing and arrogant tone. The other goblins in the merchant ship shook their heads, unsure of the newcomer's intentions. One thing caught all their eyes however, the sack of gold.
The veteran paladins and priests stayed back warily, Varall's second in command raising a light barrier between them and the infernal.
The inquisitor herself simply watched and waited.
The Church ships out in the harbour ceased their artillery barrage, the surrounding buildings shielding the infernal from the gunners.

"Someone who can pay for the ride?" Robert smiled disarmingly.
The infernal exploded violently, leaving a ten feet wide, six feet deep crater in its wake. A circular wave of fire rippled outwards as the construct was gone, the spirit binding the stones returning to the Nether.

The captain narrowed his gaze, stroking his chin in thought, "just how much moolah are we talking, human?"
Vagrin merely watched the exchanged, becoming an unusually silent for a dwarf.
The light barrier shielded most of the blast, a few tendrils of fire making it through as the shield crumbled. Varall's men were somewhat singed by the ordeal, but it was nothing fatal. The crossbowmen on the roofs had long since scattered and of them there was no sign.
The inquisitor appeared unhurt, bar her earlier injuries, however the same could not be said for the surrounding buildings - fire was catching rapidly and the holy men were quick to move out of the area, Varall herself calmly made her way to the crater left behind by the infernal and tucked away a few rocks from within, before following suit.

"Everything is negotiable," Robert's smile widened half an inch as he looped his arm around the captain's shoulders and began haggling in a hushed tone.
The was nothing left in the crater - whomsoever had controlled the demons had made sure his tracks were cleaned up.

Marcus Callahan

Marcus watched from his perched position as the infernal exploded, sending a demolishing blast wave through the nearby buildings all the way down to the ocean and igniting many houses.
He hurried down towards the others to see if he could be of assistance and if anyone else was badly hurt.

Marcus was confronted with a wide variety of burnt merchants, traders, thieves and mercenaries - the usual sorts seen in Ratchet - some beyond the point of being saveable. The veteran paladins and priests made their way out of the area, exhaustion having kicked in, though some of the kinder ones stop to lend what aid they could to the people they passed by.
Varall's second in command waited patiently for the inquisitor, saluting sharply as she approached him. "Orders ma'am?" The inquisitor inclined her head, "find me the commander of those ships, we have work to do," she instructed him. The man saluted and did as he was told.
Once he was ought of sight the inquisitor turned back to the devastation, grinding up the rocks in the palm of her hand. While she had no doubt the warlock behind it all had covered his tracks, she knew there were ways of tracing objects back to their source. And if she knew where the infernal had been created, its master would in turn be at risk of being found out.
The goblin captain did not give an inch, evidently deeming the
small
bag of gold beneath him. Vagrin sighed as the haggling continued, starting to whistle loudly and give his warhammer an experimental swing every now and again.
This maneuver seemed to have an effect on the goblin however, not because it was threatening - the dwarf's demeanor prevented it from coming across that way, but because it very nearly resulted in the goblin's merchandise being shattered.
With each swing the captain turned paler. "If could please tell your friend to stop swinging that
thing
around you'd be..." the goblin gulped now, before continuing in an even fainter tone, "...more than welcome aboard the ship."

"Oh, certainly," Robert smiled graciously, making then a strict face as he turned to Vagrin.
"My friend," he said solemnly, "Ix-nay on the ammer-hay."
He then winked, the movement only meant for Vagrin's eyes.

"Oh, 'er... Sorry," the dwarf apologized, not understanding why Robert had winked at him. He instead leaned on his weapon, waiting for the two to finish negotiating.
The goblin breathed a sigh of relief, which was cut short only moments later. "Nice ship ye've got 'ere," Vagrin commented sincerely, glancing around. The other goblins had evidently all disappeared at some point, leaving their captain to deal with the strangers on his own.
Not that he was coping very well - the paladin's compliment, or veiled threat as the goblin believed, had caused his skin colour to turn even paler then what was normally possible.
"Keep your gold!" he squeaked, more than a little rudely, shoving the bag back towards Robert. "We're... uhh... always happy to have guests, especially such esteemed ones," he added quickly, glancing in Vagrin's direction as if expecting to be struck down and turned into a garden ornament.

"No no I insist, keep it," the goblin told Robert, starting to sweat profusely. The small humanoid evidently was in a generous mood today, that or he thought he thought the two strangers were trying to deceive him.

Vagrin scratched his head, not getting the hint. The dwarf glanced suspiciously at Robert, convinced the human was playing tricks on him.
"Right, here you are, this is your room," said the goblin, looking back frantically to make sure neither Robert nor Vagrin had wandered off on the ship, before pulling open a large oak door with brass hinges. Beyond was an extremely well furbished room, far more comfortable and spacious that what most sailors lived in.

"I am, genuinely, amazed this vessel has such high-quality guest rooms," Robert tipped his hat at the goblin, stepping inside after giving up on explaining to Vagrin how exactly had they secured a place on the ship.

"Aye, yer most kind," Vagrin told the captain, only to find the goblin had disappeared. "Odd sorta fellow, bu' gen'rous," the dwarf muttered putting some of his possessions down in one corner.
"Alweys though' th' captain's quarters be a' th' back o' th' ship, no' th' guest rooms," he added, noting the ornate windows that ran along one wall.

"Eh, I couldn't care less at this point," Robert yawned, dropping the cheerful smile and rolling his wounded shoulder. He plumped himself onto a bed, blinking sleepily.
"Been a loooong day. Felt like weeks."
