I just looked at my DK's armory, and she is friendly with Knights of the Ebon Blade (she's level 62).
I think they do start out at Friendly once you've done that quest involving the Battle of Light Hope's Chapel.

UMm I left that area honored with the Ebon Blade so yeah.

I believe the quartermaster for the Ebon Blade only shows up after a phased event, so I don't think a fresh death knight would even be able to see the quest to start said event.
