I had a
thread
about this (albeit more specific) and I still feel the same way.
Video games can be as horrible and gruesome as they like, if people do the stuff in them in real life then
they're
the ones with the problems.

This.
The families/friends of those doing violent things want to blame something other than the actual person in question. In fact, it seems more harmful to blame television and video games for RL violent behavior--if someone is violent for seemingly no other reason, they need help, and if you don't get them help and deny them TV and video games, they could become even more unstable.

I think violence in video games is the result of violence in the real world.
I wish i was joking...

OKay, i had a really long post about how this affects people and some causes, but I've narrowed it down to basically one sentence.
Whose bright idea was it to BUY the VIOLENT video GAMES in the first place for their kids? Oh it was the parents.

So shooting pixel-men are bad, while watching rambo slit throats is OK?
Right...

It's not the fault of video games- it is society as a whole that creates violent people.
I will say that TV, movies, video games and watching war on the news numb our senses to the horrors of war. If you like watching it, doing it and think violence is necessary then you are more likely to use violence personally. Also- if you inflict violence/war on others they are more likely to inflict war and violence on you.
I always found it a bit hard to drive IRL after playing Grand Theft Auto. Not running red lights and trying to run people over.
Why do people play violent video games? 'Cause it's fun and you get to do things you don't get to do IRL.

Those things are completely different. Everyone knows Rambo didn't really kill him. :)
