Defense Build for leveling?

For starters you might want to stop calling the protection tree the "defense tree" so you don't confuse the rest of us.

Secondly leveling with a protection build is certainly possible but I think you are undervaluing the effect of improved thunderclap as both a source of damage mitigation and threat generation. Unless you were planning to use this build only for solo play and even then the damage reduction is nice.

I haven't tried it but focusing on revenge and heroic strike does seem like the right way to go below level 40 given the patch 3.0 changes. Once you hit 40 you need to consider where to fit shield slam into your rotation.

Keep in mind that patch 3.0 changed things significantly, especially the protection tree and so all those of us who leveled our warriors before the patch can't actually give first hand experience. You may have to experiment to see if it works, how well it works, and if you like the play style this leads to.

I do level as a protection a I must say it goes great!

problem is I can't give you advice about low levels as I swapped to prot at lvl48...
I have both glyph of revenge and glyph of heroic strike.
basicaly my rotation is to charge, rend, (shockwave + thunder clap + demo shout if fighting 3+ mobs), then I spam devastate until revenge or sword&board proc...
I usualy don't use shield slam if there's no s&b on, only when there's nothing proccing for some time).
if its possible I try to fight 3-4 mobs at a time, spaming thunder clap and cleave (and shockwave if fight takes longer) as I will kill them faster as it would take to kill them one at a time and the damage they do to me is not really a problem...
