Disenchanting for profit

I've been thinking about shuffling around some of my professions in my low-level alts. I want to switch my tauren druid to Herbal/Alchemy and my BElf mage from Herbal to Enchanting. My question is, how profitable is Enchanting at the lower levels?
I think I need a better understanding of the mechanics of disenchanting.
