Reckoning sucks in PVE and PVP if you're trying to be a retribution paladin. For reckoning, you need a weapon with a speed of 2.3 or faster in order to get a good benefit from it. However Seal of Command needs a weapon with a speed of around 3.5 in order for it to give you much of a DPS boost. Crusader Strike also gives higher DPS with a slower weapon. So basically reckoning and retribution talents are opposite, and trying to get them to work together won't work.

i was looking at the talent trees for wotlk and i was wondering, for the best dps would you rather have divine storm or reckoning,
i feel both are great talents with a couple of downsides
divine storm will help your dps by hitting 4 targets and will also help with healing by healing party members, however it cost 20% of you mana
the reckoning will be good for extra dps but needs to take dmg to proc
reckoning allows soc to proc twice as much
my view is that divine storm will be better for pve due to the fact that it is more focused around healing and not taking dmg unless ur the tank
i also see the reckoning spec will allow better pvp dmg because it will proc more,
plz share your views on this topic
Reckoning requires too many talent points wasted in the prot tree to be a worthwhile talent for a ret paladin.
Seal of Command will not proc on the extra attacks from Reckoning.
Seal of Command (and the new Seal of the Martyr) benefit from weapons with high top-end damage. These weapons are slow. Not good for making the most of reckoning.
By the time you waste all those talent points in Prot to get a talent that has a 10% chance of actually doing something, you have deprived yourself of the talents in Ret that
will
do damage 100% of the time.
If Reckoning were a good ret talent, it would be in the Ret tree. Post a ret talent build that features reckoning, and I (among others) will point out all the reasons why it fails.

I can alter this a bit and still keep reckoning too, so it has leeway. The fact that you'd outright say that without even thinking about the potential is rather noobish
You're missing 3% more crit rating, 3% more damage, 3% more haste, Divine Storm and Righteous Vengeance, to get a talent that works 10% of the time, but I'm a noob? Any one of those talents (but not all, since you'll only have 7 points to spare if after improved HoJ in a PvP build) would do better for you than Reckoning.
PS: 8% more armor will not mitigate 6% of all incoming damage. Improved RF is better than Toughness. Even a noob can figure that out.
I stand by my original post, and add this: Reckoning in a ret build is a good way to spot the Ret paladin that you shouldn't be grouped with.

to take note, spell damage gives more DPS currently than strength with SoC and spamming Judgements
ofc, this is without consecration
so Sheath of Light shouldn't be laughed at imo
