Do I have to keep premium active to keep a custom Icon

The only feature of premium I would like is the custom icon. I don't mind the two or three small ads hanging out around the edges, I don't see any need for more than 2k characters per post though I can use up to 15k for free.
I would be willing to pay $10 any time I wanted to change my icon but I can't see paying more for one year of a custom icon than two years of a .com domain name.
1 year Premium Wowhead= $39.99
2 year .com Domain Name from GoDaddy at regular price= $29.98

To answer the question: Yes; if you don't have premium, no special icon. And if you don't want to pay for a year, don't; just get a couple month sub or the like.

What does premium have to do with having your own custom domain? They're not related in the slightest.

@Benzene It doesn't have to do with premium in general it has to do with the only feature of premium I want a domain is a custom name and image, premium is just a custom image.
@Adamsm The only reason I see to get premium is the custom icon so if my custom icon dissapears when the subscription expires then why would I subscribe at all knowing that I can't afford to keep it active?

Is there a price difference because of different countries or something? I see the yearly price as $29.99.
Regardless, the price is for all features... and to my knowledge there isn't a way to only give you one of the features for a lesser price while allowing the others to go suspended.
May I ask why the custom icon is so important to you?

The Zam network is always growing as well. The biggest example of this is Lolking.net. Already the site is adding new features, and with the future looking great for League of legends the site is only going to keep growing.
If you're not a multi gaming person, and you just love WoW and Wowhead, it's another great reason to be a premium member. It gives a little something back to the site. We love to see the premium member community so involved in the forums. I joined Wowhead a little over 3 years ago, and before I became a moderator I was a premium member for half that time. Once I got involved more in the forums and using more and more of the database it was almost a logical step to associate myself more with the site and feel more at home.
Just my 2 cents on the issue. ^_^

Sorry I just looked again, it is 29.99 I read it wrong but still one year for the same price as two? I guess unless they start giving a smaller monthly or one time fee just to change to a custom icon I probably won't be sending any cash their way. At least they'll get ad view money from me.
