Dragging text into "Search database..." field bugged?
Return to board index
Sometimes when I'm browsing Wowhead, there's some text on a page (perhaps in a comment) that I wish to do a search on. I would like to highlight the text and drag it into the box in the upper-right hand corner that says "Search database..." (It's quicker than copy / pasting or taking my hand off the mouse to type it in.) However, when I do that, the "Search database..." text doesn't go away and I'm stuck searching for something like "Search dataJammal'an the Prophetbase..."
The text does properly go away when I click inside the box; however, if I click there first and then go back to select what I want to search for, it repopulates.
I don't know if this is a bug, or it's just infeasible to have it detect when text has been dragged into the box in this manner, but it would certainly make searching a bit quicker if I didn't have to manually type in text that's already there on the page.
I didn't even know such a feature existed. o_O
Seems to work in Firefox now that I tried it, and yes, the bug you described occurs. I'd say you'll just have to learn the old method of ctrl+C & ctrl+V, works fast enough for me.
May I ask what browser you are using ?
I can confirm this behaviour. Browser is
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:22.214.171.124; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) Gecko/20070914 Firefox/126.96.36.199
You must be using some Firefox addons. Would you try disabling one at a time until you find the one that messes this up?
I disabled all two add-ons I had installed:
AdBlock Plus 0.7.5.3
and restarted the browser. After checking again, the problem persists.
EDIT: Same problem in IE 6.0.2900.2180 - the dropped text will just be inserted into (or added to) the "Search database..." text. In no case the "Search database..." text is removed before the text is dropped.
Alright. Will get that sorted out :)
