The preppy guy always goes soon, Vikester, so does the pretty girl. At least in
good
horror movies. Let the ugly chick, and the unlikely guy survive, I say!

Scream is a terrible example of a horror movie, there's a reason it was the first candidate to be made fun of in the Scary Movie series.

I won't lie, not a big horror fan, but something that truly gets to you, and makes you think and be afraid to walk back down that dark hallway... or the completely ridiculous horror movies, ever seen Hatchet?
Ha!
Hilarious and old school styled, the mutant guy comes out of a bush with a power sander in the middle of a forest with it working and rams it into a chick's face. Priceless.
Also, my all time favorite movie currently is
The Signal
. It's horror, satirical comedy mix, and it's made of full win.
Edit: I suppose that movie that gets to you is on opinion, but a lot of movies are just bad. Dumb, and badly created.

I'm a personal big fan of satirical humor, cause I'm a sick bastard, I'd recommend seeing The Signal, it's a good movie and funny, if you're like me, kind of eerie and creepy too, and a subtle message in it.
I like the original Saw, however it's turned into a very uninteresting series, Hostel is great, of course, and Hostel 2 was pretty decent too. I'm not a huge fan of horror movies, however I love zombie movies, and Land of the Dead is by far the best, in my opinion. Silence of the Lambs is just... twisted. The Descent I didn't find interesting, I don't mind slasher movies, but that seemed dull. Hell Raiser I always lose my chance to see. Blair Watch Project is probably the dumbest series to ever spawn out of the a$$hole that someone calls their brain. The Exorcist is... just creepy and I don't like watching them. Deep Sea is a very... not scary movie, but the idea of it is. Carrie was... yikes lol. Cloverfield I wouldn't necessarily call a horror, simply cause I found myself laughing at scenes, like the girl exploding.

The Saw series is bad, bad, bad. There is no true originality in any of them except the torture mechanisms, and even then they get it from other culture's methods from history and current day. You can try and argue that it is, but if you truly think about it, they aren't. The first was good, I'll say it, the second was even alright, but now it's just "How many sick and twisted ways can we kill people and add a bit of plot?"

I went to the store once, the Indian guy yelled at me, I left. How was I supposed to know it was no shoes, no pants, no service?
