I don't think you completely understand how memes work.

People repeat things because the things are funny. Then, people repeat the same things more because the repetition is funny, not the thing itself. At THAT point, it becomes a meme. I would never repeat something because I thought the repetition was funny. That is idiotic. I repeat stuff because the thing itself is funny.

That's not the way I see it.
Memes are certain phrases/images that fit certain situations to be funny.
For example; if someone writes a long post that they worked hard to make about something they see in a very serious light and the comment after it says "Cool story, bro" then it's funny, because it fits.
If someone says "Cool story, bro" after a short post or after a long post that clearly not much effort was put into it, then it's not funny.

He's not your bro, he's more like your godfather.
I'll make him an offer he can't refuse.

Here
is an example of someone doing it wrong.

Would you say that most internet meme use fits the first or the second? And which is funnier, the proper usage of an internet meme, or origional humor?

-And which is funnier, the proper usage of an internet meme, or origional humor?
-wut?
-The proper usage of the meme, most of the time.
If the proper usage of the meme is less funny than the original then it's not truly a meme.

1) I'll reword for clearer understanding:
Would you say that when people use internet memes, that the use USUALLY fits into the category of 'funny', or would you say that the use USUALLY fits in the category of 'improper use'.
2) This is subjective. I think that origional humor is funnier than hearing the same stupid line for the millionth time.

1) Usually fits in the category of 'improper us', because most people are idiots that don't understand how and when to use a meme.
2) You're not using the meme properly >_>

There may be funny uses of internet memes, which may cause humor. I would rather not have to bear the massive annoyance of internet meme misuse than reap the rewards of the few times it has been funny.

What a horrible analogy. It would be more like this:
(Internet without memes)
A regular grocery store.
(Internet with memes)
A grocery store where people run around and pelt you with feces constantly. The floor is heavily waxed and covered in oil, and you have to shop in roller skates. The store is also filled with angry wild dogs. Also, there is celen dion music on repeat
while
they also play Rick Astely. The store offers the same groceries and prices as the other store, except every millionth customer gets a 10 cent discount on thier overall purchase.
