If a moderately famous author lived his life out in your home town, wouldn't you think you would know who he was?If a famous football person lived in my city, I wouldn't know. If a famous actor lived in my city, I wouldn't know. It is just what people find important to themselves. In these times, people's priorities are different than I believe they should be. This, however, is just my belief.

Its hard to miss all the crap around town about him... Faulkner and John Gresham (you know the To Kill a Mockingbird guy) are practically plastered on everything.
It's been a looong time since I read it, but isn't that written by Harper Lee? I can barely remember. It's been years since I read that book... well over a decade.
Anyway, people live in their own lives, in a capsule. They see things that makes it to them that they want to see. Most people are asleep to everything else. I'm convinced that the truely great people of humanity, the ones who overcame the greatest odds, the ones deserving of the most admiration, are completely forgotten in a sea of everyone else's indifference.

Faulkner is a great writer tho. Check out
As I Lay Dying
. It is written from a character thought perspective, and not a traditional writing style. Each chapter is
literally
the thoughts of one of the characters.
Made my 'to do' list.
