Also, when you are Homeschooled, you have the benefit of avoiding peer pressure.
So long as you try to maintain a social life, you will have peer pressure.
Not true.
I hate those "don't smoke weed" or whatever commercials about avoiding peer pressure, but the ability to say no and have a strong will is important and will help you pick your true friends among the.. not so true ones.

I'm not, you basically give up the ability to hang out with your freinds for the ability to be taught by unqualified people.
I thought parents were the most qualified individuals to teach thier children. Perhaps some government appointed agent would be a better choice. The government always has our best interests in mind, after all.
becoz lyk having teecher whu r like trained n fancy colege dun no wut they r teeching bout LoL

The main problem with homeschooling is once the student gets into the middle school grades. The parents aren't going to be able to provide the lab equipment for science that a school offers, and all the subjects become more specialized... which is why starting in middle school there is a teacher for each subject, instead of one for all like in elementary school. Very few parents are qualified to teach these classes.
In high school, this problem is magnified. No parents are going to be able to teach AP classes to their kids, and if they can, why aren't they teaching at a school?

OH I remember lab classes in public school. I was sitting there, looking at my spit under a microscope learning O so much! My mind would run wild with questions:
Me: How do the cells stick together?
Teacher: I dunno.
Me: How do the cells absorb food?
Teacher: Through the membrane.
Me: I mean, how are the nutrients processed? Does the material arrive to the cell preproccessed into this gloop stuff, or does it need to be changed once it gets there?
Teacher: I dunno.
Me: How does the body knows which cells to replace?
Teacher: Please be quite, we have a lot of learning to do and you're interrupting the class
Other student: Yeah, dude, shut up.
Another student: You think your so smart.
Cute girl: *snicker*
Teacher: Alright class, settle down. Now take a look at the spit of your neighbor. See how it looks the same?
Me: *sigh*

So because you had a bad middle school science teacher that means public school is wrong?

Laihendi, I figured me bringing up a negative experience would be seen as the reason for my bias. I'm sure many public school teachers are very good. I think I may have had a few... or one... maybe not. But I'm sure there are some out there. Even they are impeded by having to teach a whole horde of kids, and the kids themselves are an unruly bunch of brats who are impervious to discipline. The place is usually a zoo. That doesn't mean that there isn't sometimes a form of educational experience that happens occasionally. It's just that... well... right now some kids in class are making poop jokes, and my daughter is.... (hang on, calling her to ask) ...learning how to make a compass.

But your daughter is 10. That makes her at a 4th or 5th grade level. In middle school, courses become much more specialized. In high school, they simply become even more specialized. And yeah, there's immaturity in public school, but a lot of that has to do with the level of a class you're taking. In Laihendi's reg english class, people make stupid jokes all the time... and it's rather annoying. In his AP US history class, people are quiet and get to business.

What does that have to do with homeschool? Homeschool classes cannot be specialized?

Not by a parent who isn't qualified to teach all the subjects.

A parent CAN'T teach a specialized class if they aren't a certified teacher? So, I couldn't go to my daughter right now, and teach her a specialized class?

You can teach your daughter to question. At a point though, you will not be able to answer her questions, and so she must ask someone who can. This point will most likely occur in high school, though some people manage to make it to college before they get to the point where their parents cannot answer them.
