Hey donny, Hax, have you guys been to Brisbane?
Post by

Yes. I worked up there for 2 weeks at the end of 2008. Door-to-door sales. I loved the place!

Any decent places in the city for dinner? I might be stuck here another night tomorrow night and don't really want to go wandering around for half an hour aimlessly again.

Oh I wouldn't know that. I was doorknocking. I shoved fast food down my throat when I got the opportunity.
You're on the internet, look something up!

I know Byron Bay better than Brisbane/Gold Coast

Eh, too lazy, and my net's too slow up here, I'm running off my mobile.

Just walk into a pub then, Qld pubs are just like NSW pubs, good value, good quality food.

I find Canberra pubs are amazing (mainly because they're all irish pubs)

I've only been to one pub in Canberra, but it was an Irish pub. There's a heap of Irish pubs in Brisbane too, and literally
every
pub in Surfers is an Irish one (not over the entire GC, just Surfers).
TBH, Irish pubs are just Aussie pubs that serve pints, Guinness, and some of them have silly crap on the walls.

True that. You know, people say that Sydney is dead at night, but the Brisbane CBD shuts down at 5 o'clock. What kind of lifestyle is that?

Sydney dead at night? Have you been to Sydney?

In terms of retail businesses etc? Because obviously there would be pubs/clubs and convenience stores open. But yeah, I've always found that funny with retail businesses opening 9-5: a large percentage of your potential customer base works 9-5 and so can literally
never
utilise your business.
Certain parts of Sydney never die, like Pyrmont (although it's never really that exciting, either) and Kings Cross. But it is damn hard to get a decent feed after about 9pm.

Go to Darling Harbour at 3pm and 3am.

I prefer 3am, I'll take the drunks over the tourists

I'm talking about Sunday through to Thursday nights. The place is dead at that time. It's only Friday and Saturday nights that it's full of drunks/pillheads at 3am.

Uh huh. Hax, I live in the CBD. The only thing open past 6 are restaurants and pubs. More to life than just that. There isn't really anything interesting going on.
