Maybe not, maybe they are just very manipulative.
EluraE is the latter.

Yeah, that's true, some women are aware of what they're got, and like to bait guys in and then once they've got them, they play with their emotions, but that's why I aim low and go for those with bad self esteem. Its almost too easy, you just have to tell them they don't look like a bag of trash and they fall into your arms... anyways that's a little OT, but my point is that girls are too self-conscious, guys seem to more easily ignore what other people think.

I don't know what self-conscious means :(
Jag medveten?
It basically means you care too much about who you are, sometimes making it so you underestimate yourself.

Huh, well. I don't think I underestimate myself, I probably overestimate me.
See you're doing it, you're even putting yourself down by saying that you think of yourself too highly therefore you must be less than that which you think of yourself.

Like this week I felt pretty, though I heard at least 7 times that I'm "OMG SO UGLY". Yes, I probably overestimate myself.
Online translations suck, and I don't have my English/Portuguese - Swedish Dictionary with me right now.

In order to overestimate or underestimate something, that thing has to have an actual value. For instance, if I take my wife out to a fancy dinner, estimating my bank account, only to find there wasn't enough money, you could say that I overestimated my balance.
As for your beauty, there is no actual value, only an ascribed value. This 'ascribed value' is the value at which an individual opinion places your beauty. Since it is the opinion that defines the value, then it cannot be an over or under estimate.
In summary, you are as beautiful as you think you are. No one else can tell you that you are wrong in your assessment. Whatever value you place on your beauty, no matter what it is, you are right.

False. There is a value that society places on you in terms of beauty.
Anyways, you've probably been ignoring all the times you come into class and someone said you looked great, or pretty today, or whatever.

That value that society places on beauty... what makes that one the 'right' one?

That's the one that determines how people react towards you. I can say I think I'm the most friendly guy on the planet and everyone should be my friend, but it doesn't matter what I think, what matters is understanding what society actually thinks. The problem is when people try to look at what society thinks, and only look at the negatives, and then say that their self worth is low.

How does the reaction people have toward you change how your actual appearance? It doesn't. You still have the same nose, the same eyes, the same everything, until YOU YOURSELF change them. The point is, that YOU hold the power over your appearance. YOUR opinoin is the one that matters. Society has opinion, true, but it doesn't define your beauty. It never did. Giving it that power is your choice.

You can take whatever philosophical approach you want, but when I look at a girl, I see her body, not what she thinks of her body or what she believes her body should be.
