(Sorry Sinespe, I deleted yours too as is referred to a deleted one. You're right, that was all about context)(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

Regarding the atheist conversation going on here, I do consider myself an "anti-theist". My view is that religions (and more specifically religious
institutions
and organisations) don't do any good in the world but do an awful lot of harm. I also stand by Steven Weinberg's quote of "With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
Now, I was raised a Catholic so Catholicism and, more generally, Christianity are the religions that I know the best and with which I have a
personal
problem as opposed to the more abstract problem I have with religions generally. I think this is why on English speaking sites you see a much greater criticism of Christianity than other religions.
All that said, I don't really hold with this "shoving it down our throats" thing - though that is perhaps because that happens much less in Britain than the US (I have no idea). I have issues with how much tangible power organised religion has and I have an issue with how much (in my view) undeserved respect religion gets.
I respect people and I would absolutely not aim to stop people from worshipping in whatever way they wished but I have big issues with the beliefs, books and institutions.
I hope that makes sense. I sometimes put my foot in it with these things because I can too easily forget that what's merely an interesting debate for me is about someone else's way of life. I never mean to disrespect other people.
Hey atheists, who wants to go on murdering and raping sprees because we have no morals? YEAHHHH
And why do you think morality comes from religion? Is morality only in the bible? Old or new testament? does the Qur'an contain morality? Do Hindus have morals? Buddhists? Pagans? Did they have morality in ancient Greece?
Is the only thing that stops you from murdering people the idea that you will go to hell if you do?
For me I don't murder people because it's wrong. I don't need a threat of punishment to prevent me from doing it. Who has no morals in this situation me or you?(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

On January 15, 2011, Issa said he has received assurances from Rep. Eric Cantor that the bill would not come up for a vote until a consensus could be reached.
Got that from Wiki. Tomorrow might be rough (web blackout protests), but hopefully it gets a point across.

White House Statement about SOPA

'Tis truly horrible. I just had a mob of fundamentalist Christians pass out of my house yelling "hang the @#$gots" and "death to all those who insult Christianity"
Lol... It's like those fundamentalist scientists who go into my daughters school and teach her songs about how great abortion is.

I think a fundementalist (assuming it's a western country) would much rather teach songs about how bad abortion is.

Arathian was (I think) making a tongue in cheek sarcastic remark about how fundamentalist Christians are portrayed as some kind of hateful lynch mob. I complimented it with an equally ridiculous portrayal of "fundamentalist scientists". Anyone who is a true "fundamentalist Christian" is quite tolerant and kind. Anyone who is a true "fundamentalist Scientist" is probably more interested in impartial data than political extremism. The left loves to portray Christians as homosexual lynching redneck idiots. The right loves to portray atheist as abortion happy, sex crazed, immoral, heartless lunatics. There is humor and sarcasm abounding here. Enjoy it if you can understand it. If you can't understand it, then probably best not to comment.
