Hence why the term animesque has been cropping up more and more: that style mimics things from Anime, but it isn't such: Animesque shows: Ben 10 and it's other versions, Avatar, Code Lyoko, Samurai Jack(to a point)....hell, most of what Cartoon Network and Nick shows are such.
The dictionary says your wrong.
So stop arguing with me, and just say "oh, I didn't know that, thanks MyTie", so we can be done with this idiotic conversation. It comes across as being pretty anti american. Maybe I'm just callous because I'm used to seeing it everywhere. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, though.
Again, we're saying that Avatar isn't anime but an american cartoon, and one of the BEST cartoons on this generation, care to elaborate how the heck does that translates as anti-american?
See there.. It's a style, not a location. Think about it. Japaneese dude draws half a cartoon in Japan, then mails it to a German in Tennessee who knows that exact style, who flawlessly finishes the cartoon. The viewer can tell no difference. Is it only half anime?
and like we've told you, that STYLE isn't used in Avatar, thus its not anime. Again, have you SEEN the show?
You didn't say that. You said it was American, so it wasn't anime. I don't watch anime because I find the style harsh to my delicate balance of cynicism. I don't really care if X cartoon is anime or not.

This says Hi!
Edit: Hell,
on the wikipedia page
no where do you see it coined as Anime.
Edit 2: Sorry, but can't say I'm wrong this time around.

You didn't say that. You said it was American, so it wasn't anime.
exactly, but you haven't answered my question. How does that little phrase translates into anti-americanism? did at any point I said "its american thus not anime and thus inferior"? nope, I have nothing but praise for the show, and consider it the best cartoon of this generation. Did I or Noxy implied that it would had been better if it was drawn and made in japan? nope, we did not. We stated that the show is made in america, and that's ALL we said.
YOU
are the one adding negative connotations and auto-assuming anti-americanism where there is none. Thus I ask you to elaborate (if its even possible)
how the hell does saying that the show isn't anime is an anti-american snobbery.

you're wrong

MyTie: I haven't disagreed with you that Anime is an art style. What I'm disagreeing with you here is that you are saying something is Anime when it's not. I don't give a flying cow if you hate Anime, I just don't like people classifying something as something it's not.
Jesus Joesph and Mary, climb down off your stick already.
And Rank is right; You still haven't answered his question how a show made in American is Anti-American snobbery.
Edit: And while it's not in the dictionary...the term still exists.
Edit 2:
Oh look at that..../roll eyes

I don't. =/ I do cause them quite a bit, though, admittedly. I'm just opinionated. Thus I ask you to elaborate (if its even possible)
how the hell does saying that the show isn't anime is an anti-american snobbery.
answer THIS.This just struck me as a bit anti American, and a bit snobby:
Ya know, its funny how people keep confusing Avatar with an anime, despite the fact that its an american cartoon. yes, American.
But like I said, it may just have been me, and I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt. I just read a lot of anti american stuff because I spend time on the internet reading other people's opinions, and it is prevalent.

then maybe next time, get a proper reading, gauge the context better before making hasty conclusions. If you noticed, prior to saying "yes american" Noxy also said the show is AWESOME (Honestly, its a fantastic cartoon and I recomend it to anyone, even you)
its not cool to add negative connotations where there are none.
And now moving on........
Here is an interesting bit: Due to James Cameron "stealing" the rights to use the word "Avatar" the show is known as simply "The legend of Korra" on the US. =( not fair.
If we think about it, why does cameron gets the rights to that word? in his entire movie they only even say that word like 2 times (And its a damn long movie too). While in the show, the word Avatar is a core base of it, and its used all the time.
At least the international market doesn't get shafted like that. Because outside of the US, (Including latin america) the first season was marketed as "Avatar: The legend of Aang" and this second season is being advertised by Latin!Nickelodeon as "Avatar: The Legend of Korra".
Silly cameron >.>
Last but not least, thanks to TVtropes, here's something curious about the first episode of Legend of Korra: It has a freeze-frame bonus =O
At the end of the first episode "Welcome to Republic City" then the main bad guy "Amon" is introduced, there's a blueprint behind him. Freeze the whole thing and
TA-DAH!
We may be seeing a giant mecha in the future :P

I'm sorry, I read it as "wow, it's a wonderful cartoon, despite the fact that it is American". And, YES, perhaps I read too much into it. I'll try not to do that in the future. I'm happy to move along in the conversation now.
