We should resurrect the SWTOR thread and see if we can grind out some more reputation...
@Xlan- you probably shouldn't name names, btw. It's against the rules, and you'll get modded.

I want to get back to my Star Wars characters, but I'm having way too much fun with Skyrim. The way the civil war went with me backing the Stormcloaks kind of left a sour taste in my mouth- I had displaced the only two Jarls who I thought were worth anything, I was worried about the oppression in Windhelm for all the non-nords, and when we won the general was telling us that this was exactly what the Thalmor wanted- and I believed it. I just replayed the civil war, as an Imperial, and I had a much better feeling about it. I still want to kill all the Thalmor, but I think that this is the better way to prepare for that.
boo >=(
Legate Rikki = Hi, I'm a christian, I believe in jesus, but I will persecute anyone who worships him and kill them in cold blood. what?
General Tullius = Hi, I hate thalmors, yet I always bend my knee at them like a lap dog and do what they say because its the best way to defeat them. What?
I don't like Ulfric, and I hated having to displace the Jarl of whiterun, but the empire = FAIL! Supporting it, is to support oppression, and neglect. All the empire cares is its own interest. Other provinces be damned to hell. They sold out the red-guards to save their own asses, they gave the dark elves the middle finger when they needed them most, and they had no qualms about suppressing nord culture and religion to save their skins. The relationship between them and other kingdoms is all takes and no gives. They demand taxes, they demand tributes, they demand troops, but when its their turn to deliver, they back out.
The thalmor very bluntly stated that the current peace is a truce at most, a truce in which they are squeezing as much as they can from the empire, before they strike right back. Now its not the time to be playing lap dog, its the time to be making preparations for war, which is something the empire isn't doing since they're too busy being boot-lickers.
Doesn't helps when the nords who support the empire are hipocrites.
Jarl of Solitude (AKA: Thorigg's wife) = Woship of talos is forbidden because the thalmor says so. but pst pst....... I trust you ohh great dragonborn, how about you offer a tribue to Talos on behalf of my dead husband? yes I said its forbidden to worship him, but come on don't be mean.

So, in SWTOR is tradeskilling always done by my companions?
=O elhonna is right, we should rezz the SWTOR thread. I can teach you what I've learned about the game (I've spent most of the past 4 days reading several guides to prepare myself for it :P)
The quick asnwer is yes and no.
BTW, how far are you into the game? what class did you ended up picking up? are u light-side? dark-side? come on bro' share with us your impressions =D

light side Jedi Guardian. I'm enjoying it. It is a bit... much at this pint. I'm sorting through it. I notice some things I really like. The game is intuitive about some stuff. For instance, if there are a pile of corpses, all the loot will go to one nearby corpse, so I don't have to stoop over for the next 5 minutes to pick up 150 individual items.

The thing is, Rank, that Ulfric's regime would oppress people too- they'd oppress everyone who wasn't a Nord. They have SEGREGATED HOUSING for the dark elves, for goodness sake, and he refuses them protection from bandits with his troops. And there's a dossier when you break into the Thalmor HQ that specifically states that they manipulated him into feeling guilty for some failure of the Empire, then released him on purpose to start this rebellion. This was their plan- they want them to fight.
Also, I think Ulfric is a dirtbag, and I worry about what he'll do to his own people to win. I don't feel the same way about the Imperials I worked with.
I think the Rickett analogy is more: "Hi, I believe in X religion. My people were almost wiped out by another country. They are giving us room to breathe, but they want to oppress our religion. I hate that and I hate them, but the alternative is to slaughter a whole bunch of MY people who are just as oppressed as I am but are scared. The choice I made was to keep my faith, but play nice and bide my time so that when they attack again we have some chance of standing our ground." Also, a lot of people say that the Thalmor inquisitors didn't start coming into Skyrim until after the rebellion started. The worship was illegal, but people mostly just kept it quiet. The people now being dragged off are a reaction to Ulfric, and not the cause.
I think that the Stormcloaks are right to fight for their freedom. But they're not right to destroy their own people to put themselves in that position. If they were only attacking the Thalmor, and the imperial troops that defended them, that would be one thing. But they're killing anyone in their own country who won't fight with them- even the ones who want to stay out of it. Those are kind of the tactics that guerrilla warfare uses, and it's not a great side to be on.
Also, when Ulfric wins, that really cold calculated conversation he has with his general is just...not what I'd want to hear from a person I thought was fighting for a principle.

:S yes, the game is a little overwhelming at first. There's a lot of stuff to go over to. but its a fun game to get into.
As for your question, Crafting in this game is indeed done by your companions. When it comes to professions, there are 3 types.
Gathering
:
duh, much like on wow, this is how you gain resources. You see a resource node on your mini-map (each has a different icon to make it smoother) you right click on it to harvest it. IF you have a companion with you, then the companion will harvest it, so you don't have to walk all the way to the node or anything. If you are alone, then you yourself can harvest it.
These professions are:
Bioanalisys: You collect DNA from plants, and animals. (Used in the Biochem profession)
Archaeology: You collect crystals from different rock-formations on the ground. (Used in Artifice and Synthweaving professions)
Scavenging: You collect metals from scrap-piles. (Used for Armormech, Armstech and Cybertech Professions) You can also harvest robot enemies as long as they are not average ones (AKA: they have a silver metal outlining on their portrait)
Slicing (fancy way of saying HACKING): this one you will harvest mini-safes that are scattered in the wilds, cracking these open gives money, and random mats of the other professions. Though mostly they give blueprints for other professions, and tech parts.
CRAFTING
There are 6 crafting professions in this game. While you can have 3 professions, only 1 of them can be crafting.
Biochem: The equivalent of Alchemy in this game. You make health potions, and buff potions for yourself or others as well as Implants (I think this is the equivalent of Trinkets)
Armormech: The equivalent of Blacksmith for this game. You make armor for classes that don't use "The Force" (AKA: Non-jedi and Non-sith classes). You can also make Mods for these armors. Mods are upgrades that you can install on your armor to boost their stats. They are sorta like gems in wow, but not quite.
Armstech: Weapons. This allows you to craft weapons for non-force classes. Simple as that.
Artifice: This is a meaty one. And my personal recommendation (of course the final saying is up to you). This one allows the craft of A LOT of stuff. For a start, this crafts weapons for Force users, including light-sabers, and electro-staffs. It also allows you to craft lightsaber crystals, in case you get bored of that blue-colored one you got. You can also craft mods for lightsabers, and on top of that Generators, Shields, Focus and Relics.
Synthweaving: Just as armormech is Blacksmithing for "muggles", this the same but for wizards........... err I mean Jedis. Simply put, you craft armor and upgrades for armor for the force-using classes.
last but not least is:
Cybertech: Like engineering for wow, except this one doesn't sucks. (for now at least). This one allows you to craft stuff that is pretty much useful for everyone. Armoring, Mods, Earpieces, Grenades, Droid Parts, Ship Parts and Speeders (AKA: Mounts) and more. Its a sorta universal profession.
Lastly we got the
Mission Professions
.
Now I haven't understood this one entirely, but as far as I'm concerned, this one provides new recipes for your crafting professions. So, you pick your crafting profession, a gathering one to get the materials, and a mission profession to get the recipes. Unlike gathering professions, there are no nodes out there for these, the only way to get them "mats" these professions give, you have to send your companions into missions. These missions can last anywhere from 3 minutes to some hours. And cost credits.
After the time expires, they return, your profession gains some points, and you get the mats
These professions are Diplomacy, Treasure Hunting, Investigation, and Underworld Trading.
Which one goes to which one? Well, Treasure Hunting is for Artifice
Underworld Trading is for Synthweaving, Armormech and Cybertech
Investigation is for Armstech,
and Diplomacy is for Biochem.
Another curious thing about professions in this game: You can "DE" any item that you are capable of crafting. So, if you for example, have Artifice, and during an instance a lightsaber drops, but nobody else in the group can use it, and you don't need it, you can press "DE" and the lightsaber is disenchanted, so to speak, and you get some raw mats for Artifice. Same thing would happen if you have Armstech and a rifle drops, you can also DE it.

seriously I picked the wrong career =(
I should had been a game developer, or a game reporter, like BFF and such. Sadly that career isn't available in my country.
not a single gaming magazine, not a single gaming show, not a single anything related to games.
not a single game, period (they're banned, kinda hampers the business a bit doesn't it?)
