This game looks like it has a lot of potential.
I really hope it works out, I love stealth and assassination style games.
My jaw dropped. Literally. The moment I noticed it is all steampunk. Welp. Now there is a game I am looking forward to.
It has no received no attention from the media at all for some reason.
Because its not a sequel to anything.
New franchises are always received with a somewhat cold reception by media, because there's always that big chance it will flop. Remember Hellgate? looked awesome, ended up being a horrible game.
Me, I'm glad to see finally a game that isn't a sequel, I honestly think its the first non-sequel game I've seen in the past year (not kidding). At least for PC (asuming its for PC)
Assassin's Creed rip off anyone? No thanks.
Now this attitude is one of the things that's wrong with gamers these days. U gonna label anything in a genre as a rip-off from the founder of the genre? Seriously?
So every first person shooter is a rip-off of Doom? Every Strategy Game is a rip-off of Warcraft? Every RPG is a rip-off of D&D?
Come on man. Assassin's creed invented the genre of stealthy assassination. Doesn't mean every game that belongs to that category is ripping off AC.
From what I've seen of Dishonored its very different from assassin's creed. For a start the protagonist has supernatural powers. Its not based in historic events (not even alternate history, which is what we got in AC) but actual full fiction Steam-punk. Then there's the fact that there is no time-travel (That we know of) and last but not least, the gameplay is vastly different.
This one is so vast we're gonna break it down more thoroughly.
First off, the game is played in first person view, unlike AC's third person. Second of all, as mentioned before, the protagonist has supernatural powers that play a role in the gameplay, such as freezing time, teleporting short distances, summoning plaged rats, possessing small animals, ect. Every enemy in the game (including bosses) can be taken out non-lethally if you so want it, (unlike ACs were everyone HAS to die). Corvo (the protagonist) has access to different weapons, not just swords and daggers but also pistols, muskets, and more otherworldly steam-punk gadgets (unlike AC's were 90% of the time you kill stuff with the hidden blade, 5% with a sword, and the other 5% with the rest of the weapons which are situational at best).
So there you have it. How in heaven's name can you call that a "rip-off" of Assassin's Creed? it doesn't sound AT ALL like Assassin's creed to me.
Hell, the only similarities between this game and AC would be the Parkour/free-running you can do on the rooftops.
I definitely never heard of it. Glad you showed me :O I just checked the website and it even has ingame screenshots. It looks like it could be really fun. And it releases this year :o
Same here. Thanks azazel, now I got something else to look forward to. The game looks gorgeous and its made by Bethesda. After being hit with 4 AWESOME games in a row by them (Oblivion, Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Skyrim) I just don't think they're capable of doing a bad game. Glitchy yes, but those can be fixed, by devs, or fans.
I just hope my busted PC can run it. My video-card is getting too old for this stuff. As it is I was barely able to run Skyrim and ME3.

damn, it really looks like Dishonored is gonna be a fantastic game, check out this entry from Wikipedia:
The game is being developed by several talented developers including lead designer Harvey Smith, known for his past work on the Deus Ex franchise as well as Thief: Deadly Shadows, Arkane founder and co-creative director Raf Colantonio, who worked on Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, while Viktor Antonov, the man who designed Half-Life 2's iconic City 17, is lending his talents with Sebastien Mitton, Art director, to Dishonored's world.
The game blends inspirations from a pantheon of modern classics: The oppressive atmosphere and paranoid politicking of BioShock, the graceful bloodletting of Assassin's Creed, the murky morality of Deus Ex, the stealth and shadow of Thief.
so....... the head figures of some of the best games in the past decade are working on it, and they're drawing inspiration from some of the most iconic meaningful games in the past decade as well. (Come on, blend the atmosphere of Bioshock, the stealth&shadow of thief, the noire&conspiracy of Deus Ex, and the opulence of Assassin's Creed, and we got ourselves a winner here)

That is one way to take it. I think some people just got used to bombastic marketting campaigns to the point where, what used to be
normal advertising
in the past seems as no attention now. I am speaking of previews in game magazines and websites. Dishonored
was
mentioned, in lots of media. It just didn't $%^&* out like Diablo or Dragon Age 2. (And the reason why it slipped under my radar is that I do not check the relevant media regularly.)

There were so many holes to pick in that smirk that I just decided to pass it. Pointless argument with MyTie incoming, GG.

For a minute there, I thought you can not go deeper than "good morning" posts.

I have that house, Rank- very much worth getting. I really like that mod, the Black Sacrament Tower/Armor/Suite, and the Universal Followers Overhaul- all so good. The red reskin of the Ritter Armor is really nice, too, as is the Daedric Corset, though you need CBBE to use it or really any of the nice armor mods for females. They have replacer mods that let you make/find enchantable versions of the Dark Brotherhood robes and the Nocturnal Robes that I like for my mages. I also like the mod for earrings, to replace my helm with a circlet without losing the armor bonus, and some of the generic face and hair improver mods.

Well, it says "church" to me more than "mansion/house" but I could listen to it all day. If you're ever able to hear that piece sung live jump at the chance. I promise you will not be disappointed.
I was a bit late to the party and I'm actually just playing through Skyrim now (gives me something to do while most of my guild play D3) but thanks for those recommendations.(##RESPBREAK##)16##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

I had a lot of trouble finding armor that was nice and kind of feminine (rather than rags or bulky plate/leather), but didn't go all the way in the other direction of being plate-pasties and a chain mail thong. Those were the nicer ones I had found.
There are a couple of pet mods that I liked for a while, but the guards kept tagging my pets as hostile, or the big ones got stuck in hallways and blocked me in, so I stopped using them.
They have some blacksmithing mods that let you melt down armor, which I found useful, and (despite the name) MOAR followers is adds a couple of really interesting followers with unique abilities (dual-wielding Ice Elf (before they were Falmer) mage, Asassin who shoots acid, etc).
If I can think of any more off hand that I liked, I'll post them.

XD yes, that is a trend isn't it? :P I guess
these
are the only female parts vulnerable to damage? I dunno, I'm not that much of an expert on female anatomy.

That would be demure for the Skyrim armor mods.

well, time to (try to) play SWTOR.
Lets see if my PC is in the mood to *GASP* actually let me play.
I'm already again at lvl 31, and I gotta say Elhonna, I wish I had listened to you the first time and had made my agent a sniper in the first place. SO MUCH BETTER THAN OPERATIVES!.
They deal about the same damage, but their rotation isn't so ridiculously dependant on that stupid TA crap, if I wanna burn down an enemy by spamming snipe, BY GOD I SHALL BURN THAT ENEMY BY SPAMING SNIPE.
Plus they have plenty of nice skills to use from snipe, ambush, followthrough, takedown, and series of shots. And their AoE is superb.
I miss the stealth though, and the capacity to heal, but IMO, the trade was well worth it. Also, yay, it only took me 1 week to get back to were I was as an operative. It would had taken me 4 days if my stupid PC actually lets me play T_T

Settle down there, Thror. I don't care that much about a video game to argue about it.
