Whaaaa? I didn't know these things about canada?
Every country has their skeletons. Its cool to use the US as a pin cushion. It's cultural to see the best in every other country.
And to think they abolished slavery 30 years before the US, have been in less unprovoked conflicts, and no longer use the death penalty. How does their country progress with such weak policies!
Wait....are we still being sardonic this morning? I can't tell.

It doesn't have to be a competition. Whether or not someone else is doing more wrong things has no bearing on whether or not you are doing the wrong thing. If people feel the US has policies, or had policies that have had effects that are still being felt, that were wrong, they're right to express it. If they feel the same way about other countries, they should express that too. If Country A is denying civil rights, and country B is denying civil rights and practicing torture, that doesn't mean people aren't justified in complaining about country A.
And I tend to find people complain the most about the things that they are most familiar with, and spend the most energy on the policies that they actually can have an effect on (by voting). It's quite possible that the reason people in America hear so much about what people think about America is because...they're in America? And can vote on American policies, and are affected by American governmental decisions. When someone in another country makes an Anti-American comment it makes the news, but we don't care what they say about the rest of the world enough for it to generate ratings.
When I was in China, I heard a lot said about Japan. I watch a lot of British humor, and they have jokes and comedy revolving around the other European countries as well. Where you are has a lot to do with what you're hearing. And while there may be a lot of "American" jokes in various media, so are there a lot of French Jokes, Japanese Jokes, Hispanic Jokes, etc. Everyone gets made fun of, everyone gets criticized.

Stumbled across
this animated short
on the internet. It was awesome, but a quick warning: some images may be frightening to some viewers.I'm somewhat biased against anything that portrays Christians as a bunch of Bible thumping murdering maniacs. Can't imagine why.
It is, but that's one of the reasons it's awesome!

You're taking it far to litterally. To me it is - besides from being an amazing story idea and cool-as-hell animated short - a cautionary tale about what can happen when people gain too much power and influence over each other. In this particular case it was power through religion, but it could just have easily been politcal power - due to the old-western, backwater settlment local and timeframe the use of religion just made the most sense.
Allow me to explain; in the short, the Pastor (the man holding all the power and influence) decides that he wants the Hobo dead for vexing and mocking him, and decides to use his influence over the People (representing the people) to kill him. He riles them up through their fear of the Undertaker (a metaphor for death) and puts the Hobo to death through their hands. It's only after the shock and horror of what they just did overcomes them that they go mad and slaughter one another.
In the short the transition to them slaughtering each other is quick and seamless, but this in itself may have been due for damatic effect; whereas if they had taken their time and let the guilt and greif from their actions slowly wear out their sanity, as I believe it was meant to symbolize, the drama of the situation would have been lost. The real moral is not tha religion is evil and will drive you to madness (as the commentors want to claim) but that when power is abused for personal gain only violence, death, and even chaos can come of it.
And it's not even religion that drives them to begin slaughtering each other, all that religion has them do is kill the hobo - and even then that was more out of their fear of the Undertaker. They were scared to die, scared the Undertaker would take them, and so turned on each other in an attempt to make sure they would not be the ones he buried.

I'm trying to go for a more minimalistic feel. Also I added a couple more ads that are hopefully not ridiculously invasive.
Also if anyone finds a gold selling ad. Link to me (in private) so I can block it. They never freaking end.

You left out the fact we've had legalized gay marriage since the late 90's Hat lol.
Also, home from work....was a really crappy day: Mile long field, where the male and female plants randomly switched rows so we were playing leap frog, and it had only been machine pulled once...oh well, at least it was only 2 rounds(of course, those two rounds were 3 and a half long total).

False, Canada didn't fully recognise same-sex marriage until 2005. The first country to legalize it was The Netherlands in 2001.

So, what? Point fingers at the pin cushion instead of just owning mistakes? You're so cute when you sound exactly like everyone else. Do you cool kids get uniforms?
Everyone gets made fun of, everyone gets criticized.
I agree, but there still is a double standard. America, and even Americans themselves, are the world's boogymen. And, if I were to say something against another country and their people, I would be either racist or bigoted, or something. I'm not allowed to be critical of other countries. At best, at very best, it gets turned back on my country, like what hat did. The world's ills are all my fault. It doesn't matter that my country gives more to other nations, through food and monetary aid, than any other nation, even while we are going bankrupt. We are the bad guys. We must be silent bad guys and accept criticism without dishing any out. I say "no more". I say if my country is a punching bag then I'm going to start dishing out some punches to the rest of the world.
And, also, I'm against any further government aid being sent to another country, as many Americans now are. All of the popularity surrounding anti-American sentiment has irritated me.
