Should check out Steam for the holiday sales.. Ridiculous discounts on well...everything.
Don't. At least, don't do it if you want to have any money left next week.

Sometimes I think about My Sassy Girl and get really sad. It's so good.
I used to enjoy the love story of My Sassy Girl, but then A Place Promised In Our Early Days. (Actually the second movie's just okay. A little too artsy and stuff for my taste.)

Eh, I don't have any money in the first place, this is what remains of my Christmas money, haha.

So....... in america, stuff gets CHEAPER in the holidays?

So, I got a notification from the financial aid office at my university, saying that they will be suspending my financial aid benefits. The requirements for keeping financial aid benefits are thus:
Maintain a 1.00 GPA or higher for students with <27 cumulative attempted credit hours.
Earn at least 67% of attempted credit hours per semester.
My GPA is 3.58, and I have a total of 14 attempted credit hours. Last semester, I earned 78.5% of my attempted credit hours, because I withdrew from a particularly difficult math class.
When I checked my transcript
this
is the exact face that I made.
Now, I have to appeal my suspension, because of what I'm assuming is a clerical error.
Update:
Okay, so I called the financial aid office to find out what was going on. Apparently they go by your cumulative attempted credit hours for the entire history of your attendance at the university. I went to this school for one semester back in 2006. Back then, I had no idea of what I wanted to do, I didn't want to be in school, and I just didn't care, basically. I dropped out, losing out on apparently 10.72 credit hours. Since the financial aid office looks at cumulative attempted credit hours regardless of context they only saw the 11.00/24.72(14.00+10.72). Thus making my completed percentage 44% instead of the 78% I thought I had. Here's the kicker: even if I had earned the credits from the course that I dropped, I would still have only gotten 55% of my cumulative attempted credit hours.
Basically, because they don't look at the context of attendance or non-attendance when making these decisions, I would have lost my financial aid even if I'd gotten a 4.0 GPA and received all of my credits last semester. I was doomed from the start.
So, now I've turned in the appeal form, the appeal letter, and the relevant documentation. All I can do is wait and hope that they won't make me pay for a mistake that I made when I was essentially a totally different person... one that I feel I've already paid for by working for minimum wage in a hard labor job for those intervening 6 years.
After a long time of feeling like I had no control over my life, I went back to school thinking that I had finally taken control of my future. Now, they've taken that away, and what's worse: they've told me that even if I had done better than any other student in the school, it still wouldn't have mattered; they've told me that I never had any control over my foreseeable future in the first place.
If this doesn't go through, I have no idea what I'm going to do. I can't afford to take legal action, even though I know for a fact that I have the grounds to do it, so I'll probably have to go back to my life of minimum wage and quiet desperation. I wanted so badly to make things better for myself, and now I feel like I can't do that. It just hurts so much...

You're ^&*!ing crazy. I slept 6 hours and I'm begging for a coffee IV.
Steam isn't just america :o Ofc us poor europeans have to pay much more because silly steam doesn't know how to convert.
You'd think by now that they would have a conversion for you guys. Probably how they make their money :\

Thanks, Kris. I really hope it works out, too. I'm trying to put it out of my mind, but it's all I can think about right now. I know that if my appeal goes through, I have nothing to worry about. But the other side of the consequences is just too much to handle...

Oh jeez, HiVolt. I very sorry to hear that. Hopefully they repeal that because, like you said, you didn't know what you wanted to do! I'm sure most of us have all been there (I know I have). Keep us updated.

That sucks HiVolt, something similar has happened to me. To keep my scholar ship I thought I only needed like a 2.0 to keep it and I hade a 2.2. Later I get a letter saying I needed a 2.5 to keep it. Don't let it get you down.
@rank
Lots of things get priced down right after. We're heading to my aunts and uncles house for Xmas because my mom and grandmother had to work yesterday but were off today. So because of that my mom just waited until early this morning to go to Walmart and buy gifts. Lots of holiday decorations and winter clothes are already marked down. As well as the holiday gift sets such as DVDs and other things.
I also know a few people that wait until the new year to get gifts because they are much cheaper.

Uncle Sam goddam HiVolt. I pissed away my second year and continued with far less hassle than you. Friend of mine was in a similar situation though (did bouncing in his intervening years). Hope it all works out eventually, though I will point out that there are opportunities for dedicated people without degrees out there, as alien as it'll seem atm. Best've luck whichever which way anyway, we're all vouching for you.
