@Elura, Remember people have it worse than you do.
Now who's the ass?
It's true. It's selfish to think that you're worse off than anyone else. Take it how you want.

To say something as rude and as disgusting like everything you post, I can imagine you're the loneliest $%^& to have ever lived.
Hey! Not everything I post is disgusting. Rude, sure, I can see that, but not
disgusting
.
I do apologize for confusing your gender, though.

How is that supposed to help though? Aw man, I'm just clinically depressed, but that man is homeless, makes me so much happier, I'll go along with my life now. My brain is telling me to kill myself, but that person has less money than I do, silly brain.
I understand. My dad has the same deal, and our family is all that keeps him going. I dain't mean to make you upset about it, Elura. Make your life the best it can be is all I'm trying to say!

Accepted, although it's the second time you've messed it up.

I think we all may be better off finding a new topic on conversation. May I suggest pastry laden rodents?
I will say that depression is something that makes perspective very difficult. Chronic depression tends to be chemically fueled, and so regardless of what thoughts someone is thinking, the chemicals in their brain bombard them with feelings of sadness and hopelessness. Positive thinking can help to a point, but for someone who hasn't experienced it, it's hard to understand how hard it is to logically tell yourself not to be miserable when all the physical and emotional symptoms are there regardless of whether or not logic dictates they should be.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##ElhonnaDS##DELIM##

I never understood how people could get uncomfortable over the internet, specially in a non-private conversation.
I mean it's the unmalleable affecting physiologically the physical, Kant's head would explode.
This?
That rodent looks like it's had too many pastries. Fat.

This
is an absolutely fabulous lecture on the nature of depression. It was given at Stanford, and I have used it more than once to help people who wanted to know more about the disease.

Exactly. Kind of annoys me when people who arn't going through it talks about it. "Cheer up" is one of the most annoying thing ever. It's not like the voices in my head care about that.
Right there with you EluraE. It is a hard thing to work through depression and everyone telling you to "Cheer up" or "Just get over it" makes it even more of a pain. I guess most people don't understand that depression just doesn't effect you mentally, but physically and emotionally as well.
And I think Rystrave had it right when she said we aren't just forum users. I've been using wowhead for almost 5 years now, and there are some people who I know are going to give sound advice I can count on and some people that I just want to choke the life out of when I see them post....just like my real family makes me feel.

You have to be strong not only for yourself, but all those who love you and those lives whom you affect positively each day.
Why? Why would I live my life for someone elses benefit?

I like you, you're enjoyable.

Words can change things. Computer based cognitive therapy has been demonstrated to be effective over treatment as usual with patients with anxiety or depression (Proudfoot et al. 2004), traditional cognitive behavioural therapy better than a control for moderately depressed students (Reynolds et al. 1986) and internet based cognitive therapy better than a control and not significantly different from group based cognitive behavioural therapy in treating symptoms of moderately depressed over 50s (Spek 2008).
Edit: Through which mechanism? Words alter thoughts, thoughts change behaviours (see Ajzen 1991 for instance). The primary focus of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is changing negative thinking patterns.
Double edit: Sorry to hear that Rystrave. Best of luck with the speed run Milayu.

Call me old fashioned and junk, but I live my life for myself, and for my friends and family. I understand that I have an impact on people, be it negative or positive. There are loads of people who wouldn't care if I fell off the face of the earth, but there
are
people who would care and the thought of deliberately putting them through misery breaks my heart.
Accidently or dying naturally already causes so much pain, but it's a much different pain versus someone doing it intentionally.
