"Darling get my shotgun. I need to sush some european %^&gots!" *spit* "God damit give be that bloody shotgun!" "Here you go." "Thanks darling. And wheres my beer?" "There you go. I know what my pig loves."
lol. When I think of the essence of America, I think about people like my great uncle, this wrinkly old man who used to drive a trunk. He smells like old spice, and crones country songs out on his guitar. Shops at a Piggly Wiggly. Or I think about this fat black cook that used to make the best BBQ I've ever had. Or, I think about this group of engineers I used to work with, who were very diverse in age/ethnicity.
How bout we stop making everything ever into an "I hate liberals" comment? We get it, you don't like liberals. We're perfectly capable of knowing that without you needing to make a remark as frequently as possible about it. It's just really !@#$ing annoying at this point.
For the sake of peace with you, I'll lay off for a while. But, in the long run, you're going to have to deal with it. You can imagine that I put up with a lot of stuff here in the RB that I don't enjoy, so you can be kind enough to extend me the same understanding when I make occasional and short political discourse. I'm not going to stop just because you don't want me to anymore. Besides, it was just a joke, for heavens sake. And, I really disagree with you that I turn everything into a disagreement with liberalism. This is probably the first time I've mentioned liberalism in at least a week, or longer. I can't remember the last conversation on liberalism I had here was. So, please, chill out. But if you choose to continue being upset about the ordeal, that's your choice. If that be the case, I'm just going to ignore you now, though.

lol Tush we knew it was a joke. My post was just in relation, if someone I didn't know (not saying I
know
you, but we're all friendly folk here on the forum) were to say that, I would have opened a can on them.

Its incredibly unfair to generalize all anime as this.
I'm sure anime won't lose sleep over it.Eh, MyTie just hates it cause it ain't American enough for him =P.
I don't think that's it. I love french films. Brittish comedy outshines American comedy by LIGHTYEARS. Oriental food is pretty superior to American food. I admire the middle east's ability to stick to their principles, beyond what America has. Canadian beer rocks. Russian accents are awesome. German cars pwn. I was even commenting to my daughter yesterday that I like the way North Korean military marches better than US military.
It's not that anime is foreign. I just hate it because it is offensive to my sense of entertainment. It's not that I find it just unenjoyable. I feel, wronged, in some way, as if the creators of the anime have caused me to lose time that I'll never get back, as if I were in jail or something. I really really dislike it, and not in the same way I dislike other things. I mean I really detest the stuff.
(obligatory culturally sensitive disclaimer) But, that's not to say that there is something wrong with IT. This is just my opinion I present. Lots of people enjoy it, and I have no problem with that. I see anime, I move on. If you enjoy it, more power to you.
I'm reminded of this guy that goes to my church that doesn't like food with flavor. He finds it offensive to his mouth. No Tabasco. No garlic. No peppers. No mustard. Nothing besides stuff like soup, bread, bland Italian food, etc. I do NOT understand how someone can go their whole life without experiencing 5 star (really hot) Chicken Pad Thai. Mmmmmmm. But hey, that's him.
Now I'm thinking about Chicken Pad Thai.... dang it. I want some.

What you see on TV isn't rednecks. Just because someone is from the country, talks with an accent, and dresses in cheap clothing doesn't make them rednecks.
I grew up on a farm, I talk with a heavy southern accent, and I wear cheap clothes. But I can also survive in the woods with ease. I learned how to hunt, fish, farm, and build shelter. I can ride a horse, skin a deer, and milk a cow. I know how to tell when animals are in heat, and when the best times to breed them are. Does that make me an ignorant redneck? We went to church twice a week. We ate breakfast before the sun came up, dinner at 11:45 am, and ate supper at 4:30 pm.
I have a full time job, 2 college degrees, a loving fiance, 2 cars, my own home, and a close knit circle of friends that I wouldn't trade for the world. I take care of my business and if people judge me by how I talk and dress, it is their problem, not mine.
That being said, I hate what TV has done to the USA and particularly the southern states. We are not all moronic jackasses who run around screaming "Dey took ur jerbs!", we don't all drive around with lifted pickup trucks flying Confederate flags, we all aren't racist.
TL/DR: What you see on TV isnt a redneck...its a overblown stereotype of what media thinks rednecks are.

Quite true. The southern states have some of the best and brilliant minds in the world. Physics, engineering, agriculture (especially), mathematics, etc... The southern states have many fine universities of higher education, and on the whole, a great amount of quality people. You can find pockets of idiotic people in any culture. In the northern states it would be gangsta hoods and such. The people that believe the hype of the southern states aren't really critical thinkers, ironically.I can bash my own home country if I want.
There is no law which wouldn't allow me to bash my own country.
I think the idea is less of what is legal/illegal, but more of what you should/shouldn't do. No one is suggesting that you don't have the right, or that you could be arrested. It's just some here feel that making derogatory statements about entire countries isn't socially acceptable.

Rank, I hope you see this, my Spanish teacher is very interested in your situation, and on her behalf I would like to ask your permission to ask some questions, new ones and ones that you've probably already answered before (Which I've either missed or forgotten the answers to). If you want to answer, feel free to do so here or hit me up in an email. My email is Twilights.calling@gmail.com.
Also, we watched a movie in class today (Missing) and she used it to explain to us why she wants us to compare Chavez's, Allende's, (and now Pinochet is added into the mix) reigns. The reason Allende is in there is because of the way he treated US companies/investments, which is similar to that of Chavez's treatment, and how it may lead/have lead to something like what Pinochet did with Chile.

@Tush- it seems that you are upset that there are shows and people who depict your people poorly to make a joke. That is the same exact point the other people were making. If you are upset about the shows, don't you understand why someone else would be upset about the same kind of jokes about them, or people they know?

Well, one gets those stereotypes from watching reality shows... That garbage is the same everywhere and, sadly, most of the shows on the telly are reality nowadays. That's why I don't really watch TV.
On completely different subject; NSFW
My friend has a thing for little people.
Our late night Skype conversations are full of this stuff >.> It's getting highly disturbing.

Sauna beer

Insult women by tellimg them to go to kitchen.
You know, you push me away from Finland, by telling me people are going to flog me in the bus stations, but then you give me a list like this, and I think you guys might be pretty ok. I'm not big on Ice Hockey, and I don't care for misogyny, but all that beer, sausage, vodka, and sauna can't be too bad.
Just when I thought I was out, you pulled me back in.
Edit: Seriously, beer IN the sauna? I don't understand how anyone could be tense enough after that to tar and feather me for using a trendy mobile device.

The beer part is what TV shows... Everything what comes from TV isn't real. There is nice ppl in Finland too bad you must know where to start looking for them :)
I have a sneaking suspicion I would get along fine there, despite your previous problems.
How old are you Tush?
