So can we finally stop talking about Twilight and move on to things that are actually interesting? Like Dinos, or Hitmen, or
Multipass?

I suppose I can agree up to a point, but still, even if the majority of actors were hired by physical looks alone "back in the good old days" you could still find some that were hired by skill rather than looks.
Can you say the same for today? I doubt it.
So while the industry wasn't "better" back then, it wasn't as bad as it is now.
Lol, yes I can absolutely say the same for today.
For your Christopher Lloyd I give you a Chris O'Dowd. For your Carol Burnett I give you Melissa McCarthy.
Now the interesting/tricky thing about Melissa McCarthy is, she doesn't fit the Hollywood mould but that means that she is still hired for her looks most of the time.
Sara Rue is great and is cast in quite a few things but will she ever get a role that isn't overtly comedic? I certainly hope so. EluraE wants women to be allowed to be funny and I certainly agree there's a disparity there but what I would also like to see is women who don't have the Hollywood generic looks doing non-comic roles. If we start seeing that with regularity then I think that would be an indication of a major change for the better.
I don't know any of the ones you mentioned T_T
I've been playing videogames too long. I'm unplugged from the matrix.

Walter White, Tony Soprano, Don Draper, Jax Teller, Dexter Morgan.
Are all a thousand times more realistic then anything in Twilight.
Your criticism though was that their treatment of people, most notably women, is inapropriate for a character that the audience is supposed to look up to.
I agree the movies are bad, but I still say it's not as much as people imply. Most of the hate they get are people bandwagon jumping. It's trendy to criticize Twilight, and that's why we see comments about it in things that have nothing to do with Twilight.

On the topic of bandwagon'ing, I'm surprised nobody took up my 'Friday, friday' comment....

My criticism is that the books make it out like the fact that Edward stalks Bella, Jacob was violent with her, the shapeshifter in the second book takes out his rage on his wife, and all of the other incredibly abusive things that happen are a good thing, and that is the sign of a healthy relationship.
I hate Twilight as I find the books to be some of the worst written drivel I've ever come across, and the movies are over blown glorified stupid arse wastes of scripts...and Sparkly Vampires still suck.
While it may be 'trendy' to criticize Twilight...you are still criticize something that is god awful and completely and utterly deserves the criticism.

I can barely keep up with all the posts to catch half the things people are saying. I'm getting too old for this, or at least am really out of practice.

In Twilight, you are suppose to be rooting for these so called heroes, and according to the author, they are what 'real' men should be like. The books don't teach healthy things to people.
Walter White, Tony Soprano, Don Draper, Jax Teller, Dexter Morgan.
whoa whoa whoa whoa.
Now, I don't know much of the people you mentioned but I do know Dexter Morgan (from the show, I've never read the books)
And in the show at no point does dexter claim that he's a good person, nor that what he does should be emulated, he IS a criminal, and the only reason we as an audience tolerate what he does is because his victims happen to be rapists, and killers.
When I saw Death Note, I was eager to see the protagonist die, because he really was an actual monster. Dexter on the other hand, strives to better himself, and fights his evil tendencies. While fully admitting that he doesn't belong to society.
Dexter says that, but really he's written as a heroic character. He's not really a sociopath despite anything he says. He has very clear empathy for people.
As far as Death Note goes, the way Light Yagami is written, in every way from his name, to his desire to become God, to the symbolism with the apple, is written as a metaphor for Satan. He's not supposed to be emulated or held up as a hero.

Because they are not fantasy...
Kind of the point.

Unless he's doing voice over work, then he's not that bad.

Thanks, now I have the desire to go watch it again with this in mind.
Not that I'm complaining, I was thinking about rewatching it anyway.

I did it again :P got at least 2 pages worth of discussion without resorting to cheap tricks like religion or politics =D
In all fairness, the discussion did kinda take a "sexist" turn there, which is somewhere in the top 5 "trick ponies" of OT.
Now, we did have a couple pages of cell phone discussion, which was a nice relief, as the last couple days for me have been some of the worst I have experienced in a quite a while. It got my mind off the misery for a couple hours, at least.

In other news, the Pornomancer and the Cookinator are back.
In related news, I've made nicknames for the Mumbai pimp and the Kitchen product salesbot. They're the Pornomancer and Cookinator.

If they don't give it a rest I'm going to run out of things to write in the reports.
Also:
KotOR is out on iOS. I'm simultaneously happy and annoyed.
