Druid Vs. Mage?

druid can't be mage, you might see that after you level your mage some more. bear isnt warrior, cat isnt rogue, resto IS heluva healer. druid is made to be "simulation" of warrior/rogue/mage, but those simulations are not too bad, and are definitely OK for anyone who is not interested in mastering warrior/rogue/mage, and will be satisfied with bear/cat/owl.
If balance is only thing you are interested with your druid - go mage imediately.
If you want to try A LOT OF things without need to roll a new class - go druid immediately.

Personaly; I would say Mage, because I love being a Mage.
But druid ain't mage, if you mean that with balance-specced.
- Bear is like not warrior. But kinda.
- Cat is not like rogue. But kinda.
- Owl is not like mage. But kinda.
Um, bear is not a warrior, nor a paladin, nor a dk but none of them are druids. Druids are fine tanks. They same with Tree healers.
And Cat druids rip my mage to shreds so their dps isn't that bad either.
Moonkins are great! They may not be mages but their still bulky casters, with fast cast spells and a lot of direct damage.
I also love having a moonkin in my raid group due to their aura.
