I'm doing heroics and Naxx right now, and I've experienced the
best overall Holy performance using these benchmarks:
Spellpower > 2000
- because of the general ignorance towards how healing classes actually work, spellpower over 2000 seems to be a requirement to get heroic or naxx groups these days.
Spirit
- once you have 2000 spellpower through gear and enchants, gem up your gear to max out your Spirit
Haste
- I agree with getting your haste rating to around 10%. Make sure your gear selections have haste first, then crit second.
Intellect
- another important stat, especially for long boss fights, however I get by with 15K mana unbuffed.
Crit
- Haste first, Crit when you can. I'm 14% crit holy spec'd, and don't have a problem.
A few other considerations for Priest's: get Alchemy. Make yourself the alchemy trinket and lots of Runic Mana Pots; I get 7K mana back from one of those.
Additionally, make a macro for your Shadowfiend to make it attack your target's target. - use it at 50% mana every boss fight.
Get the Spirit World Glass, +84 Spirit, and on use increases your Spririt by 336. Hell of a mana boost every 2 minutes.
My Holy Spec -
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bVcbzhZcxtcc0qqhVIsLh- it's a bit different the other holy specs, including 3 pts in Spirit Tap. I have those in place for the moment as I need the mana regen as I complete the hundreds of quests during downtime between raids. I never have to drink while questing.
My Spell Rotation
1. Prayer of Mending & Renew Tank
2. Flash Heal Tank
The rest of the party I maintain with Flash Heal, Renew, PoM, CoH as required.
I rarely use Greater Heal unless tank took a big hit, and then I actually flash heal him over 50% then use GH7 to top him up.
I use Circle of Healing whenever an AOE hits the party, but I usually let the PoM work its magic.
Macro's
I have nearly all my spell macro'd for one main reason. Simplicity. I use mouseover casting for nearly everyhing.
/cast Renew
This drops Renew on my mouseover first, target's target second, my target third, or me if no target. Set this up for every spell, and use mouseover for faster healing!
Anyway, this is just what works for me; let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions!
