Hee, I was wondering how they are lately. I got myself a 85 shammy and wondering if it's worth the transfer.
So could someone give me some pro's / con's on Enhance shammys @ 3s and Bgs? :)
(I can't really judge from my own character since it's heavily undergeared and I haven't been on that character for ages.)
Thanks in advance.
Coming from someone who has achieved 2200~ in 3's this season I'll tell you my pro's/cons.
You are a very, very good support class. But you need support too. Make sure your teammates understand how to peel that shadow dancing rogue and winged ret paladin.
We are the counter to casters. Make sure you can windshear targets you aren't targeting and can effectively shut down any Crowd Control coming from the enemy team.
We do insane damage. Really insane. But we also don't have that much burst on demand, we are heavily reliant on RNG (luck) to do big damage. But when we do, we do it big.
Again, Support class. Here is what I can do to help my 3's team.
Tremor Totem fears.
Grounding Totem shatters, hunter traps (yes, freezing trap can be grounded) and allow my healer to get a cast off without worry of being counter spelled (due to grounding totem).
Windshear Polymorphs, Fears,Cyclones, etc.
Dispel hex, curse of tongues.
Remove snares off my teammates. Be unsnarable myself (ghost wolf)
Frost nova my targets in place.
Instantly CC an enemy team member.
Off heal consistantly for around 35,000~
I bring +20% attack power AND +10% haste AND 549 agi/str.
Consistent enemy team snare. (earthbind)
and most importantly
I can purge Instant cast cyclones, Fear wards, Power Word Shields, Avenging Wrath, Blessing of Sacrifice, Ice Barrier, Blazing Speed, Instant cast frostfire bolt proc, natures swiftness, any HOT and be able to do so the entire game due to how we have downtime in between our attacks.
You are underestimated. This is both good and bad. Even with the best gear available for PvP my shaman will get turned down for 3's for a rogue who has never been 1750. That is how it is. On the flip side you will also be underestimated by the enemy team; allowing the element of surprise when you unleash your burst.
You are squishy. I run with 5050~ resilience, full pvp armor and +15% extra healing taken and I die in under 10 seconds to a triple dps with my shamanistic rage, stone skin and stoneclaw totem up. Remember, you are not a tank. You need to prevent damage (that is, don't let that rogue & mage do whatever they want. Ground that initial shatter. Shear his next cast.)
We are currently inferior to rogues and rets. If you already have a rogue and a ret I wouldn't make an enhancement shaman.
We do not have an 'iwin' button. No ice block, disperse, divine shield, vanish, enraged regeneration, etc. We can be trained from start to finish and we can do nothing about it.
We are hard to play. There is a reason there are only 4 enhancement shamans on my battlegroup with their tier-2 (that only play enhancement). RBGS? Forget it. Nobody wants you. 3's? Why bring an enhancement when most of them are bad? If you can master the class and use its utility correctly then you might succeed; that said? I'm one of the best geared enhancement shamans on my server (tichondrius) and I can't find a 3's team.
All in all, good luck. Hope this post helped.
