Since Blizzard let us buy our mount at 61, but we need to get the riding skill, would it be more worth going through the quest chain to get the skill and mount to save the money? I know the skill costs 600g (minus rep level) and its 18g to buy the skill. Would it save me money if I spend the time and money to do the quest chain?

Well I'm talking about the alliance pally mount (I tend to forget horde has pallys), and it seems that the horde version costs more but the alliance version is only like 350g and some time, versus 618g for just straight up buying it.

Long ago when i did the quest i didn't know many people passed my own level so farming all the mats myself and the stupid quest chain with pugs was unbearable i think i would have to say buy the 600g training
Ailliance side :P

I completely with mrmunkles and Ximinez. A charger isn't something you should just buy... it's your mark as a Paladin it needs to be earned. Also from my experience it costed a lot more than 600g to complete the chain. But that was before WotLK I have no clue how prices of Arcanite Bars, etc. have changed.

Hey man, i don't think anyone read my post. The quest WILL NOT give you your epic mount anymore. My friend tried to do it and didn't get the mount at the end, so he talked to a GM who told him that the quest will not give it to you, you have to buy it now. Doing the quest will waste a lot of time and money for no mount. My friend could afford the training before he attempted the quest, when he found out that the quest didn't work he had spent too much money on the quest to get his mount. I lent him the rest of the money he needed, but still, not a good idea to do the quest!
Really that sounds just retared i gotta go cheack the interwebz for more info

I havnt done the ally one since the patch but I have helped 3 horde pallies post-patch and it still gives the mount. Im guessing you just dont have the right info.
i was just about to post that after searching the internet i have found no patch notes no forum posts nothing so we have to follow the old code screenshot or it did not happen

Also as a side note, it is insanely fun. While you're not pleading for groups that is, the Paladin only boss fight in Ratlegore's room for one example. The other being which Dire Maul suffers from it's location, possibly the most ignored and remote regions in WoW. What I did experience in there however was one of the visually best and fun instances I've ever been in and while my entire group agreed we were only going up to Warpwood for my barding we ended up doing a complete run of the place.
