The point store is the only way to obtain the tabards. Even when the Void tabard was "sold out" (how the hell does a digital item sell out, really?) you could still purchase the EU code and use it in US WoW if necessary. That being said, they're all exactly the same tabard design so it really only comes down to preference of color. They all look pretty decent, though always bland on a caster with a robe or kilt and if the character is level 80 you'll spend most of your time wearing other faction tabards for reputation gain, so it's totally up to you. Just browse them all on your race in Wowhead's 3D model viewer. You could even add your normal gear to a gear set in the
Item Comparison
tool and then add different tabards and view in 3D to see exactly how your character would look.
