Some general advice:

1. Upgrade your bags. Make it a priority.
2. Vendor everything that is grey, and do it frequently at the beginning of the game.
3. Level cooking and first aid
4. Take a combination of mining, skinning, or herb for your professions. You need money for your first toon.

That's my general advice. For rogue stuff, see the recent thread about "Top Ten things a rogue should know" or something like that. It's great.
