Did you also train
Expert Riding
from the flying trainer? This is what you need to fly,
Flight Master's License
just allows you to fly in those specific areas. Such as
Cold Weather Flying
is needed if you want to fly in Northrend once you hit 68.

You only need 60 for expert riding. 70 is required for
Artisan Riding
.
This iss on the Expert Riding page. If you learned Flight From you should have learned Expert Riding as well.
Druids have an exclusive, flying shapeshift form, Flight Form, which requires them to know Journeyman Riding (as well as Apprentice Riding). However, Druids do not have to purchase Expert Riding training as it will be learned upon training Flight Form from their class trainer for only 3 (before faction discounting, naturally). Therefore, and unlike any other class, Druids will save 297 in learning Expert Riding.

The other question I have is do you only have a vanilla license or do you have all expansions to Cataclysm?
From
here
the riding skills FAQ:
Flight Master's License (allows flight in Azeroth)
Requires Cataclysm Expansion
Skill Requirement Riding: 225
Level Requirement: 60
Skill Cost 250 gold (base)

On your account page does it say "World of Warcraft (r): Cataclysm"?
If so you should be able to fly. If it says "The Burning Crusade" or "The Wrath of the Lich King" you will need to add the licenses to get you to cataclysm.
Depending on the above you may have on of the earlier expansions. I am not sure if it will have nothing behind the colon if no expansions are bought, but if you have one of the others I listed above you have that expansion.
I would expect nothing if the original game and the expansion order is "The Burning Crusade"(TBC), "Wrath of the Lich King" (LK) and finally "Cataclysm."
If you only have the original you can only level to 60, TBC 70, LK 80 and Cataclysm 85.
As I bolded earlier in the section copied from the riding FAQ you must have Cataclysm to fly.

"Outland" is (the remnants of) another world, and the place to level from 60 to 70. You can access it through the so-called Dark Portal, which you can reach quickly from Orgrimmar through a small portal in the Cleft of Shadows (the large cave in the center)
Right-Click the "Portal to Blasted Lands" and after the loading screen, you will be facing the giant Dark Portal. Step through it, and you will be in
Hellfire Peninsula
, where you will be able to fly with the
Expert Riding
skill you purchased.

To add to the last comment, If when you try to go through the dark portal it says something similar to "This requires the Burning Crusade" that would indicate that you only have the original or "vanilla" license.
If you can go through the Dark Portal, then you will be able to fly there in the Outlands. This would also help indicate what expansion level you have.

To add to the last comment, If when you try to go through the dark portal it says something similar to "This requires the Burning Crusade" that would indicate that you only have the original or "vanilla" license. Correcting that, all "Vanilla" accounts have the Burning Crusade expansion by default since some months ago :)
