Correct me if I'm wrong but WoLK has made it much harder for a lvl 70 to grind for an epic flying mount
... I agree before it was released that it was easy to make money by doing dailies and finishing quests, all of which awarded extra gold instead of XP.
But now with the raised lvl cap and XP gain instead of gold, u have to be a much higher lvl before u can grind for the gold and the mount. Yes it's possible and even easy to get it at around lvl 77, Diialga was talking about getting it at a much lower lvl I suspect.
Although I do agree with u Diialga that it would be nice if Blizzard lowered the cost of the epic skill to compensate for the increased lvl cap, I seriously doubt it will happen... :-(. As to ur other comment however, about lowering the cold weather flying skill, I can tell u now that Blizzard made it that way to force players to get out there and "hoof" it. If we could fly around Northrend from day 1 or at a much lower lvl the quests would be very easy and make the exploration of the new content no where near as challanging.
Look at it this way... the lvl 77 requirement gives u something nice to strive for within the game and when u finally do achieve it, it will make the experince and new options flying creates that much more sweeter!
You can rent a mount from a guy in K3 (Storm Peaks) once you reach level 77. It can be used in Sholazar Basin, Storm Peaks, and Icecrown. Use it until you can afford your own mount.
Blizzard is not going to simply make it easier than it already is for you casuals to play this game. Take the time to do what is needed to be done, and all that you need can be achieved.
Sorry for the quote pyramid and the wall of text but...Orlly? I didn't know that he rented you a mount...

If anything, getting the flying mount is either now than it used to be. Once you hit 70 (or 68) you can move on to Northrend. Since you can't use a flying mount until 77, there's no reason to even worry about purchasing any of the skill until 77. That gives you 7 levels of quest reward money and drops to make that 5k gold.
As for dropping it from 77 down to 74; no thank you. They put it in for a reason; to get you out into the zones and seeing their content. I would have missed a lot of stuff if I could have just taken off and flown over everything to go from one quest objective to another.
Some things in this game are not just given away. This is one of those things.

My Mage has Tailoring and Engineering, neither of which I leveled at all while leveling from 70-80, and by the time I was 80 I had Cold Weather Flying (Got it the moment I hit 77) and I had ~2500g when I hit 80 last night. I haven't even been trying to make any gold and I have 3000g in just a day of being 80. I don't see how 5000g is difficult for anyone to get.

5000g is not difficult to obtain by any means.

I think 5000g +1000g is a reasonable amount.
About the lvl 77 requirement for Cold weather flying, are we forgetting that in BC we could fly only at level cap (70)?
Druids could fly at 68. :-)

Why'd this topic get necro'd by nearly 2 months?
Anyway... People need to stop complaining about this 5000g (+ 1000g for CW Flying) is not a lot at all. Period.
Complaining that your lazy and don't want to do it is no excuse. Honestly, if you can get to 77 (or 80), and have no idea how to make money in the game, it's just sad.
Just keep questing, do dailies, pick up one or two gathering professions, and you'll have the gold in no time.
