After a period of time playing WoW I go from 110 fps to 50 fps and it stays like that. I would do 2-3 hour session and it would drop. But it's fixed when I restart my computer. Not sure if my video card is overheating or not. I recently updated my nVidia GeForce GTX 590 to the 301 driver version so it's up to date. BUT, it started doing this once I updated my driver to 301. Could it be due to the driver version or me slowly killing my video card with my long gaming sessions?

Roll back to previous driver and see if it still happens? Sometimes drivers don't cooperate, or in rare cases, they can overheat your card. Usually when that happens, they will put out a notice, and tell you to re roll until they get a newer one out.
I have no idea if this is your case or not, but worth a try. I generally don't update every new driver unless there is a reason. YMMV

It might also be your CPU overheating and throttling itself to cool down. I recently had that problem because my tower fan broke down, all the warm air remained inside the PC case.
