Future Blood Tank? ;-)
Return to board index
So I was thinking - assuming Blood tanking becomes more viable next patch - about what a spec might look like.
I came up with this:
Alternative w/o Sudden Doom:
I'm iffy on Blood Gorged. Given that a tank's health fluctuates so often, it seems like it wouldn't provide the same caliber of benefit that Tundra Stalker and Rage of Rivendare provide. I tried to compensate with BCB and SoD (and Necrosis in the alternative build) from Unholy.
Given the buff to Frost Presence, and the fact that Bloody Strikes will add improved AoE and Vampiric Blood will become a super-Last Stand... will it work?
Question, why didn't you spec WIll of the Necropolis? And I personnally like 5 expertise, but then again you are right in that most tanks don't sit around with a lot of HP, specially not DK tanks. I also feel that maybe blood aura and/or blood worms would help. Blood worms because they are extra dps that heals you, and aura because it makes healer have less heal stress. (Especially because it is doubling in effectiveness.)
Blood cake I just don't get at all. Don't look at white dmg as a way to make up for not having AoE threat. I'd move those over to blood.
As far as heals are concerned, I'd think that 4% healing based on damage raidwide would be better than the improved rune tap.
Maybe Im insane too, but I live without death runes. Never seen the point in purposely messing up rotations when I have blood tap and (forgot the name but the spell that refreshes all runes). Between those two I have no issues making sure I have what I need to.
The CD on pest is the ONLY issue I have with rotations, and that was where I rune dumped.
Ah, forgot about the buff to WotN. Sort of a ghetto
, but still not too shabby.
BCB was mostly for bonus threat purposes, but then I reckon it probably wouldn't amount to much TPS in the end. Bloodworms seem interesting, but I wonder if they'd be around long given their vulnerability to aoe.
Here's a new build with WotN and BA:
There's a couple floater points, 2 in Spell Deflection and 2 in Unholy Command (could be moved to Virulence). I spec for Shadow of Death because I'm a stamina addict... but it seems ok in this build to me, as there doesn't seem to be anything significantly superior to put the point in.
Here's an alternate with LB, but it takes a lot of points to reach and I don't like not having Outbreak:
Well WotN is turning into Ardent Defender if I read the patch notes right.
If you have lich you'll want a macro that /tar self /cast deathcoil /tar nearest
Not sure what the actual coding is but it'd be something like that. Move the two from icy reach over to black ice too.
I'd say if your dps suffers to much Improved Rune Tap and Sudden doom would be what you sacrifice. Spell Deflection won't be nearly after the patch, and you'll love the new 2% stam runeforge.
Hrm, speaking of DPS... I forgot about Subversion, which should be nice in this build.
Adding Subversion + Annihilation gives 12% bonus crit chance on Heart Strike and Obliterate, plus, we don't consume the diseases... should be a decent overall TPS boost. :-)
Here we go:
To be honest, I'd caution you on subversion. As a Blood tank, death strike may be your best bet for your duel rune hitter. It's gonna be what keeps the healer happy. (I rarely use obliterate and Im frost specced, just because death strike saves my ass.)
But 3% crit chance is also nice. Plus you forgot the 5% crit chance you get from Dark Convicion so that'd be 20% crit chance on heart strike. Plus those crits do 245% of their base damage when they crit. :) Plus the base damage of those is being increased by Bloody Strikes.
So yes you're heart strikes will be hitting two targets for INSANE damage. This effectively means that you'll tank 2 things with such ease. Issue will come in when you got 3+ mobs. (And that may be why Blood DKs need death runes.)
