Gaming pad

So, a friend of mine has been raving about this gaming pad that he recently acquired. Does anybody else use something like this for WoW? Upon close inspection, it seems very convenient as opposed to using a clunky keyboard.

I'm looking for some testimonials.

I personally have one. It is great to use; however, its one of those things that you become dependent on. When you have to play without it, it is almost like you have to relearn your hand positioning for everything on a regular keyboard. For this reason, I am hesistant to use it regularly with WoW.

I bought one shortly after I got into my first MMO (City of Heroes); it was the original release of the product, created by Belkin and without the fancy glowing blue lights. That was probably 5-6 years ago. I simply adapt the profile to each new game I play.

This past weekend, the scroll wheel on it finally went out. I went out and bought one of the new ones (now made by Razer). There was a smidgen of a learning curve, because the thumb analog stick has a slightly different feel to it than the old D-pad*, but I've already gotten used to it.

I won't play MMOs without it. The functionality of it is amazing. Heck, it gets used outside of gaming frequently (I've seen videos of folks who use it for complex Photoshop macros for graphic arts).

*The analog stick simply plugs into a cross-shaped hole on the D-pad, so if you really want, you can remove it.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I've been debating on either getting that one or the Logitech G13, but from what I'm reading the Nostramo is getting better reviews and comfort ratings.

Edit: Apparently it's the Razer Nostramo now instead of Belkin...probably because they stopped the driver support.
