hmm you run from zero to 420 without running to any dungeon, farm rare mob drops or travel to trainers in the far reaches of Azeroth, not having to use one other profession to acquire any mats to do your profession and you ask how can i do this.... I don't want to hear it. You didn't have to go to a blacksmith to make a new pen every 100 skill levels/and or a jeweler to make a tip. You didn't have to have a leather worker to make your parchment... Didn't have to have an engineer make your mortar and pestle. You were handed that profession all you had to do was farm the herbs, and click make. Take your CD and make a scroll/glyph and hope for the best...

I'd love to make a piece or mail/leather armour every 20 hours and possibly get a second piece of gear i could use or even sell. or even be able to grant a use of mats again. Say I have such grand skill that I was able to make it for 3 instead of 5 pieces of leather/or other materials...instead of granting a pattern that appears in thin air... As a LW I still only sell armour kits and leg armour, but my embossed leg armour still isnt any better then the ones i craft for use @ level 80, just less mats. I'd like a better emboss for myself @ level 80.

Problem #1: It's
Scribe
.
Problem#2: Inscription is a very easy profession to level, it only took me a few days and maybe a ~1000g.
1000g? You bought ALL your herbs? Cost me the parchment and the Ink set and the training all up abput 300g. Inscription is easy peasy.

why does it matter how long it takes, there is no benefit to hitting 450, why not let it level up a day at a time?

(as the 2nd poster listed; i'm expanding on it)
Northrend Inscription Research - 20 hr cooldown.
I think a better comparison to this would be Northrend Alchemy Research. - (almost) 7 day cooldown.
Both 'experiment' with materials (herbs turn into inks for scribe, or just herbs for alchemist), both have discoveries of profession, and both create something along with the discovery (scrolls of whatever for scribe, flasks for alchemist).
Takes more herbs per week for scribes to get their glyphs, and they get 6 more discoveries out of it, than alchemists.
Yeah, I'll complain that the alchemist shouldn't have to have their research take such a long time - but we also have the titanium transmute? I don't even bother with that one. It's taking me a while to get my flask/eternal discoveries while doing the eternal transmutes and I still don't have all my eternal transmutes. :-\
