In one of his novels, Robert Heinlein wrote (and I'm paraphrasing some) "If you turn a deal around on the other person, would they accept it?"
So let's do that. OP: Blizzard announces that they're raising the cost of Expert Riding (required for flying mounts) from the current 800 gold to 1500 gold.
Is Blizzard then justified to turn around and debit everyone that has a flying mount an additional 700 gold, or take away their flight training if they don't currently have the gold to pay the difference?
Since you're only level 56 on your highest toon: If Blizzard turned around and said that they were raising the price of standard riding mounts to 500 gold, how would you feel if they turned around and took your horse/elekk/hawkstrider/dire wolf because you don't have the 500 gold necessary to compensate them for raising the price?
Let's take a real-life example instead: You buy a $20,000 vehicle. A month, or 3 months, or any given time later, the same dealership offers the same vehicle for $15,000. You go back to the dealership and ask them for the $5,000 they owe you. What's going to happen? Well, first they're going to laugh at you - like we are about this - and then if you continue pressing you're going to be escorted from the premises by security.
An economy of any sort, be it virtual or real, does not work the way you seem to think it does. And while I'll bite my tongue on a lot that I want to say, I will say that your apparent sense of entitlement makes me ill.

You've got to be joking me...
55 gold is practically nothing, it's around 5 dailies, 1-2 stacks of herbs, or in other words... pennies.
Sure, they are giving the newer players who are just hitting 30 an easier time by giving them the mount, and making it cheaper... but thats not doing anything negative to us, just doing something positive to them.
Here is an example; When a new video game comes out, it is usually priced at around $50 (give or take a few bucks)... But in time, the price goes down, sometimes to even half that. So should I go to Best Buy, and tell them to give me like $10-$30 back on every game I bought, since I usually buy them when they hit?... The obvious answer is a big, fat NO!
Same thing here, sure before it was lvl 40 and 90g, now it's lvl 30 and 35g, not a big deal. They want people to be able to experience more content faster nowadays...
When the game first began, it was 1-60, and then raids, so it wasn't a bad idea to take your time. Then TBC hit, and while there was still a ton to do, people could afford to spend time in the Old World, because they would still be able to experience end-game stuff. Now with WotLK coming in say, half a year, they want people to get the most out of the content now, because once the expansion hits, all the end-game stuff may not be as common place, and newer players would have missed out.
You know?.... I can understand, if all of a sudden, Epic Flyers went from 5k gold to 2k gold... Then I'd be #$%^ed, but for something to go down a tiny 55 gold... Just let it go, it's nothing.
Just my opinion.
