Going BS:ing.... when?

Hi
Whas thinking of going blacksmithing with my warrior to get some deacent gear later on in the game, I am at lvl 30 at the moment and have mining/skining to get some nice money in the beginning but thinking of going mining/BS later on and whas whondering when I should switch...? Is it worth switching early or wait till I am like lvl 50-60 before switching?
Planning on becoming an all out PvE tank and thought therefor that BS might give some nice armour... or if anyone has any other nice suggestions for a nice profession I am all ears :D

I would atleast pick it up by time you start doing upper level instances that drop desirable BOP plans, this way you can loot them.
