Character: Felicia Copperton, Smeargle (Leonardo), Kricketot (Mozzie)
Location: Striaton City

Felicia passed through the strips of darkness cast by the gate with an almost bored look, walking as though every motion were accompanied by a creak in her joints. But very gradually she was finding a slight spring in her steps by the time they entered the route proper.

Inhaling deeply, Felicia sighed. "Ahhh...fresh air."

Character: Zach (Rose, Rocky)
Location: Pinwheel Forest

"Okay I think that's enough training for now Rose. Take a break." Zach said and Rose nodded and walked over to Amber.

"Let's keep working on your metal claws Rocky." Zach said and Rocky happily nodded as he rushed forward. "Try it on that boulder there and try to split it in half." He said pointing to the large rock sitting along the marsh. "Dril!" Rocky exclaimed rushing forward as his claws began to glow and he scratched the boulder only leaving a small scratch in the rock.

In the distance Zach could make out laughter and looked over his shoulder to the elekid had gotten back into his tree and was watching the group. The pokemon pointed at Rocky and started to laugh. "Ignore him Rocky." Zach said seeing the anger in Rocky starting to grow. "Just focus on the boulder." He said.

Character: Alice Diamond (Chi, Vince)
Location: Nacrene City

Alice pushed the overenthusiastic museum worker out of her mind, even though the woman had begun to babble on and on about the building and its exhibits regardless of the redhead's obvious disinterest. Chi and Vince began babbling behind their trainer's back (or at least, Chi was babbling, and Vince was obviously just humoring the Meditite) while Alice scanned what she could see of the museum.

A giant Pokemon skeleton was the most noticeable thing in the room. It towered over everything, though wasn't quite large enough to reach the ceiling. Whatever Pokemon it had belonged to, it had a large body and comparatively small wings. Regardless, it certainly looked impressive. Alice couldn't see the rest of the exhibits clearly, but most of them just looked like boring old rocks and masks and other things nobody really cared about.

After a few more minutes of waiting, a small, but skinny, man in a white labcoat came from around the skeleton and approached the front desk. He had a grey suit on underneath his coat, short clipped brown hair, and set of rectangular glasses perched on his small, pinched face.

"What is it, Melissa?" the man, supposedly Hawes, asked.

"Oh! Yes! I called you up here because this little girl wants to challenge the gym! Isn't that fun?" the woman beamed with her broad, plastered smile.

Hawes stifled his grimace, and looked over at Alice, then down at her two Pokemon with a slight nod, "Do you have any other badges? Or is this your fresh start?"

She shook her head, to which question was unknown until she pulled back her vest to reveal the
Trio Badge pinned onto the inside. He nodded, "Then you've already taken your first steps. Excellent. If you'd come with me!" the man gestured for Alice to follow.

Alice rushed after Hawes, more than pleased to be rid of Melissa and her plastic happiness.

The trainer was about to ask for directions in the museum, when he saw Alice talking to two other people. Kay approached her, saying "Hey, Alice! Are you going to challenge this gym too? Just got here, no idea where to go to."

Character: Alice Diamond (Chi, Vince)
Location: Nacrene City

"Beat it, know-it-all. You're the genius, you can figure it out on your own," Alice snorted at Kay, turning her back to him and trying to figure out where Hawes disappeared off to. She darted into the crowds in the museum, finding the man in the labcoat as he hadn't strayed too far. Vince smirked smugly at Kay, chasing after Alice, while Chi looked up at the dragon tamer for a few moments, before following her companions.

"My name is Hawes, though I believe you already figured that out," the man mentioned as Alice caught up to him. "I'm the assistant director here at the Nacrene Museum."

"Who's the director, then?" Alice asked.

"Lenora, who also happens to be the Nacrene gym leader... and my wife," Hawes replied, with an amused smile. He pushed his glasses up his nose and gestured at the skeleton in the center of the museum as they passed it. "This isn't our largest exhibit, but its the one we're most famous for. This is the skeleton of ancient, enormous dragonite that was rumored to have flown around the world."

Alice shrugged in relative disinterest, but nodded her head regardless. Hawes apparently sensed the fact the young trainer didn't really care too much about his historical ramblings, and picked up his pace through the museum. While there were many off branching hallways to more exhibits, he headed straight down to the back, up a flight of stairs to a raised terrace, and towards a doorway between two League statues.

"Beyond here is the museum's library, and the gym," Hawes explained, gesturing to the door. "You can register for a gym fight, and do some reading at your leisure until my wife is ready to fight you."

"Got it," Alice replied, tipping her head towards Hawes in a sliver of gratitude, and pushed open the door.

Character: Kay
Location: Nacrene City

Kay merged into the crowd quietly following Alice. In his mind, he was rolling around the floor in laughter. She had just led him into the gym entrance! He kept a safe distance. The trainer took his time to admire the Dragonite. Dragon Pokémons were truly majestic.

He did feel angered at the title of know-it-all. The first lesson in order to become sage, is that, in comparison to what there is to know in the world, one can only know that he knows nothing. Relatively, of course.

The Dragon Tamer-to-be waited one full minute after Alice entered to enter himself into the gym. Thanks for the tip, he thought. He hadn't needed to ask her, he should just have tailed her.

Character: Alice Diamond (Chi, Vince)
Location: Nacrene City

Alice went through similar motions as those from the Striaton Gym: she handed her trainer card over to a man sitting behind a desk (which apparently also doubled as a library checkout) and he had her registered for a gym battle in no time at all.

"We'll call you over when its your time to battle. Still need to keep the peace in the library, after all. The gym battles take place in the basement," he pointed past some of the shelves to a visible staircase leading downwards.

" 'kay," Alice replied, making her way over to a magazine rack and pulled out an old copy of 'Sinnoh Monthly'. It was the only one there, and practically the only reason it existed in the library was because it had an article about Cynthia's vacationing habits in Unova.

Oh well, it was better than nothing.

She made her way to a table and sat down, helping Chi and Vince up to the table so they could read along while she waited.

Character: Zach (Rocky, Rose) Elekid
Location: Pinwheel Forest

"If you think you can do better then prove it!" Zach exclaimed at the laughing Elekid. The pokemon stopped and shrugged before jumping out of the tree and walked forward snapping his claws as he passed Rocky. The Elekid inhaled and held it for a second before he rushed forward and with a shout raised it's hands up high and brought them down as fists and shattered the rock. He turned back with a smile across his face as he snapped his claws again at the speachless Zach and Rocky.

Rose leaned into the pat before looking up and pointing at Amber's note in curiosity.

Amber shrugged, flipping through her chicken-scratch notes and doodles of the pokemon that filled the area. "I don't know. Takes my mind off things."

Character: Zach (Rocky, Rose) Elekid
Location: Pinwheel Forest

"I just had an idea." Zach said. "How about you join us Elekid?" Zach suggested and the Elekid started to laugh again. "Hey it could be fun. You could see a bunch of new places." Zach said but the Elekid shook it's head and started to walk off. "You could get a lot stronger with us." Zach then suggested and the Elekid stopped and looked back at Zach and Rocky and pointed at the pokemon and shook his head. "Rocky is a lot stronger then you think. In a battle he could actually beat you." Zach said causing the Elekid to grow angry and sparks began to arc around the plugs on top of his head. "How about this. If Rocky wins you join us. If you win then you are indeed stronger then Rocky." He said and Elekid nodded as Rocky rushed forward.

Kay registered after Alice, showing his ID. He then picked up a book on Unova's pokémon and their locations. The trainer started reading as he waited for his call.

Character: Alice Diamond (Chi, Vince)
Location: Nacrene City

Chi was obviously enthralled by the magazine. The Meditite rested on the table on her stomach, kicking her legs up into the air like a teenaged girl on a bed texting the night away, and was entranced by the colorful pictures between the columns of writing. Vince, despite his haughty attitude and air of disinterest, seemed to have a muted curiosity, as he was peaking over Alice's shoulder when nobody was looking.

Alice had only gotten about half-way through the magazine before the man from the front desk of the library tapped her on the shoulder, "Alice Diamond?" she nodded in response, and he continued. "Lenora is ready to battle you."

The redhead nodded, standing up and making a detour to the magazine rack to put her reading material away. Vince and Chi jumped down from the table and followed Alice as she made her way to the basement steps. At the bottom was a short corridor, with white bleached walls and a white tile floor, and at the end was a simple wooden door. Above it said 'GYM' on a electronic plate.

Alice braced herself, then opened the door.

Beyond was a small arena. The entire room was dark wood, from the wall siding to the floorboards. Much like the Striaton Gym, a stage occupied the center of the room with the boundary lines for official battles drawn on it. Folding, metal bleachers lined three walls, though they were bare. Closer to the north end of the room, connected to the stage, was a platform with a decent sized study. Bookshelves, much like those from the library, lined the north wall, with glass cases with other historical objects between them. An oak desk sat in the relative center, behind which sat a hefty, dark skinned woman with large, puffy teal hair, who stood up as Alice entered the room.

"It's a shame I won't be able to see her fight the Gym Leader. Well, at least it keeps the fight interesting." Kay said this to himself as he noticed Alice going into the gym.

Character: Zach (Rocky, Rose) Elekid
Location: Pinwheel Forest

"Rocky use steel claw." Zach ordered as Rocky's claws glowed and he swung at Elekid who countered with a low kick. The Elekid then started to use thundershock forcing Rocky back and run to dodge the lightning.

"Use mud slap!" Zach commanded as the lightning stopped and Elekid began to rush at Rocky with it's arms raised high. Rocky dug his claws into the ground and began to fling the mud at Elekid until some got into his eyes forcing him to stop and using his arms began to wipe the mud away. "Now Rocky use dig." Zach then commanded and Rocky obeyed tunneling into the ground only to pop back out seconds later underneath the elekid hitting him hard and sending him tumbling into the ground. "Dril!" Rocky said turning to face the pokemon waiting for him to get back up. After a couple seconds nothing happened and Zach reached into his pocket and threw an empty pokeball at the Elekid capturing him inside and after a few seconds of it shaking the ball fell quite.

Character: Alice Diamond (Chi, Vince)
Location: Nacrene City

"Lenora?" Alice asked, raising her voice so it carried through the room. It came back with a muted echo in the nearly empty arena.

The woman made her way across the office platform and down onto the same level as Alice, where the youth could get a better look at the gym leader. Lenora was a big boned woman who's excellent physical health was plainly evident. She wore loose blue trousers and a white polo shirt, and a striped orange bandana that held her large hairdo back. Her heels clicked against the floor, before finally coming to a stop as the woman stood before Alice.

"That would be me," Lenora replied, a sharp gleam in her blue eyes. "You're little Alice then?"

With a quick look back towards the door, as if checking that nobody had followed her, Alice looked back at the gym leader and slowly nodded, "Yeah. I am."

"Excellent. I've been looking forward to another challenger, and I think you'll give me a good fight," Lenora grinned, cracking her knuckles. "Are those the only two Pokemon you have with you?"

Alice looked down at Chi and Vince and nodded, "Yep."

Lenora nodded towards the stage, "Then take up a position over there. I'll go get my companions, and we'll meet you for an official match!"

The museum director walked off back towards the office stage, and Alice looked down at her two Pokemon, "Ready?" she whispered.

Chi nodded, "Medi! Medi!" she exclaimed. Vince merely nodded. Alice sighed, clenching her fists to reassure herself, and led the trio up the steps to the challenger's side of the stage.

"Good job Rocky." Zach said as he walked forward and picked up the pokeball Elekid now resided in. "Dril." Rocky nodded as he sat down to catch his breath.
"Let's head back to the pokecenter." He said picking up his backpack and then Rocky. "Maybe Tony's there." He added before walking over to Amber and Rose. "Are you ready to head back?" He asked.
