"His parents were resurrected from a pair of fossils. He was bred naturally though." Amber stated.
"And no, no..." Amber shook her head. "Pokedex's are fine and all, and any good research stands on the shoulders of giants, but I don't need the giant whispering in my ear." She said.

Bred Aerodactyls? Kay was genuinely interested. "So, tell me, are there more of these Aerodactly eggs? I'd be interested in raising one."

"They're for research purposes and in no way, shape, or form for sale." Amber explained swiftly. "Especially for unprepared trainers." She added, looking at Kay. "It's my understanding there are eight badges, and I'm guessing you have one or two."

"O-ok, calm down. First of all, I was not interested in buying one, maybe calling a couple friends for a good Dragon pokémon egg and making a trade. Second, I only have one badge and that's because I just started a couple days ago. Third, Aerodactyl could also give us Dragon Tamers insight on the origins of our favourite Pokémon type. Last, assuming that I got all eight badges and beat the elite four, would you consider maybe giving me one?"

Kay sighed. After his gym battle and obtaining the Nacrene Gym Badge, he was planning on telling his father that Aerodactyl's had been succesfully bred. He'd be interested. Maybe he would get a gift for the info?

After a few silent moments Rose and Sparky let themselves out of there pokeballs. Rose instantly took a seat next to Amber as she tried to read the book in Amber's hands while Sparky began to wander around. "Don't go to far." Zach said but the elekid looked at him and snapped it's fingers before walking behind a book shelf.

: Alice Diamond (Chi, Vince)
Location
: Nacrene City
She was back in that situation again, Alice realized. Absolute fear seizing her heart like an iron fist as anxiety welled up in her chest and despair felt like it was trying to push her down to the floor. Lenora's last Pokemon--the Watchog--twitched all over. It probably had incredible reflexes, was faster than Chi could dream of being, and managed to take down Vince in a hit without a chance for retaliation.
"Seized up, girl? That's no way to act in a Pokemon battle!" Lenora rebuked. "Watchog! Finish it! Hypnosis!"
The lanky rodent stood at attention, opening its eyes wide. Chi curiously tilted her head at the other Pokemon's movements, as the alternating colored rings in the Watchog's eyes began to flicker and spin. The Meditite's eyes wearily drooped from the exhaustion of watching them.
Alice shook her head, gritting her teeth before barking out, "Snap out of it Chi! Confusion!"
"Meee...dii~?" Chi mumbled, before shaking her head fiercely to disperse the stupor. "Medi-TITE!" she announced proudly, thrusting forward a glowing violet palm towards the Watchog.
Seizing the gym leader's Pokemon with her mind, Chi threw the Watchog backwards toward its trainer, buying the challenging team some time.
It's normal type, but Chi still doesn't know any fighting type moves, so it's no good! I can't rely on Bide this time, the Watchog is too strong, or will just try and use... what was it? Hypnosis? ... again! What do I do?
Alice gripped her ponytail in one hand and gave it a sharp tug,
Think! Think!
Across the battlefield, the Watchog was already on its feet, "Lunge in there! Take a bite of that Meditite!"
The Watchog bared its massive, razor sharp front teeth, which gleamed off the ceiling lights. It barreled forward at an incredible speed towards Chi.
"Keep using Confusion, Chi! Don't let it get close to you!" Alice blurted out, but the Watchog was faster than Chi's reaction time. The normal Pokemon came in with gnashing teeth, clamping its jaws onto the Meditite's shoulder before the fighting Pokemon could throw it away in another blast of psychic energy.
Chi panted, sweating and grimacing. The wound dribbled blood down her arm.
The Watchog spasmed against the floor for a few moments, before getting up and breathing heavily. The two Pokemon faced each other down, both injured from their scuffles. Chi held out her shaking hand, trying to focus her concentration on another psychic attack.
"No," Alice whispered. Chi froze, then the redhead continued. "Hidden Power this time."
"Go in, Watchog," Lenora muttered. The rodent nodded, and took off towards the motionless Meditite.
Chi threw both her hands in front of her, sweating profusely from the exhaustion of straining her mind. She summoned the red orbs from nothingness, and they spun around her like some sort of barrier as they began to glow with power. As the Watchog closed the gap between the two Pokemon, Chi's eyes opened to a blank white glow.
The Meditite forced the spheres forward, into the gym leader's Pokemon, where they burst with the full force of the contained energy. Chi fell backwards onto the platform, coughing, while the Watchog skidded back across the center line and remained still.
"Risky," Lenora mused, murmuring under her breath. "Cilan mentioned the same thing."
"Come back, Chi," Alice breathed, raising the second Pokeball and recalling her Meditite. She hugged both capsules against her chest, waiting until the adrenaline began to fade before putting them away.
"Congratulations, Alice Diamond," Lenora announced after similarly bringing back her Watchog. "You've conquered the Nacrene Gym."

"Zach Hollowtree?" Zach heard a voice say and he looked up to see an museum worker standing in front of a open door. "That's me." He said standing up. "The gym leader is ready for you." She said. "I'll be right back." He said to Amber. "Let's go guys." He called as he walked towards the door with Rocky as Rose and Sparky caught up to him.
He was led down a set of stairs into a large room with a ring in the center. "Whoa." He said looking around. "Are you the next challenger?" He heard a voice say and he looked over to see Lenora standing on the opposite end of the ring.
"Whoa."
Zach thought but a shout from Rocky snapped him back. "Yes. Yes I am." He said stepping onto the small square opposite the leader. "Well let's not dwadle. Go Herdier!" She said releasing a small dog with a black coat and white face. "Lillipup got big." Zach commented with Rocky nodding.
"Go Rose!" He then said expecting bulbasaur to rush onto the field but instead the pokemon hid behind Zach's legs. "Still nervous?" He said. "No good trying to make a pokemon battle that doesn't want to." Lenora said and Zach grumbled. "Fine. Rocky your up." He said and Rocky nodded rushing onto the field.

Alice numbly stumbled across the field towards Lenora's office, where the gym leader had went and gestured for the redheaded girl to follow. The woman opened one of her desk drawers and removed a metal case, identical in appearance to the one from the Striaton gym. Lenora reached a hand forward and shook Alice's firmly, though the youth's grasp was much less strong, before handing her the case.
"In there is the Basic Badge, proof that you've defeated me. You'll also find your winnings for this battle, and TM67--Retaliate. That's the move I used to defeat your Treecko. It's a move fueled by feelings of vengeance and justice," Lenora explained.
Alice simply nodded, popping open the case and removing the gold and brown rectangular badge from within. It earned its name, with little to no frills to its basic appearance. She pinned it onto the inside of her vest, next to the Trio Badge, before putting the case away in her backpack. The girl turned to make her way to the door.
"Before you go," Lenora stated, prompting Alice to freeze in her tracks, "Alice Diamond, I wish to have a word with you."
"..." the youth swallowed tightly, turning to look at the gym leader, who pulled over a spare chair and set it in front of the desk.
"Take a seat," the older woman tipped her head towards the vacant chair and sat down in her own. Alice nervously plopped herself down. "Don't worry, you're not in trouble, but I think you need to hear this."
"What?" Alice grimaced. Even reassurance wasn't enough to quell the nervousness.
"I got email from the Striaton gym leaders the other day about the potential trainers I would have to face," Lenora began.
"Isn't that cheating?"
The gym leader laughed, "It's not as if it isn't easy to learn about us if you choose to!"
Alice sighed, but nodded. That was true enough, resources on the gym leaders were as plentiful as you could find on the internet, asking around town, even on TV.
"... Regardless," Lenora continued. "Cilan mentioned how reckless your strategy became as you got further and further into battle. You're not confident about these battles, are you?"
The redhead wetted her lips nervously, "I-I'm fine--" she stopped herself and lowered her head. "N-no ma'am. I'm not."
"I didn't think so," the gym leader stated. "Girl, you're Pokemon are out there and they're doing their best in battle for
you
, but you're so worried about the outcome and what's going on that you aren't focused on what's going on. You're barely scraping by.
"Alice, you have to trust yourself to make the right decisions, and even more importantly you have to trust your Pokemon. No matter if they get hurt, or if they're faltering.
You
have to trust in their skill and their efforts. You have to be there for your Pokemon as much as your Pokemon are there for you.
"That goes for your whole journey, not just gym battles," Lenora finished, watching Alice, though the girl didn't raise her head to look at the leader.
"... okay," Alice finally replied, after an eternity of silence.
Lenora smiled sadly, "Chin up, girl. This a lesson most rookie trainers have to learn in one form or another," the gym leader reassured. "On a better note, I have something for you."
"You already gave me my gym winnings--"
"Something else. Apparently some friends of yours had a feeling you'd make it this far. I have a letter for you, from a certain Dawn Chalcedony."
Alice perked up immediately at the name, and eagerly took the envelope that Lenora handed over. She got out of her seat and gave Lenora a more firm handshake, "I guess I'll head out so you can take on the next challenger. I know there's some guys waiting yet."
"Good luck, Alice. Burgh is the next gym on your way--over in Castelia City. He's no walk in the park, so remember what I told you," the gym leader remarked.
"I'll try..." Alice replied, with a nod, before leaving the arena.

As he did so, he became aware of someone else walking down the road towards the gym.

"Use bite!" Lenora ordered as Herdier bared it's teeth and charged at Rocky. "Rocky use mud slap." Zach said and Rocky dug his claws into the ground and threw mud at the Herdier but the dog was to fast for the mole pokemon and he clamped down on Rocky sending the two rolling on the ground.
"Quick! Try fury swipes!" Zach rambled as Rocky began to swing his claws around as it attempted to shake of the pokemon. "Don't let up Herdier. Use Leer." Lenora commanded and Herdier growled at Rocky causing him to hesitate enough for the dog to bite down on Rocky again. "Use metal claw!" Zach commanded. Rocky's claws began to glow as he swung them and hit the Herdier hard forcing the dog to back off. "Good job Rocky." He said but fell sient at the evident bite marks all over Rocky. "Are you okay?" He asked and Rocky weakly nodded.
"Herdier use take down." Lenora said causing the pokemon to reckless charge at Rocky. "Quick Rocky use dig!" Zach commanded and Rocky placed his claws together and began to spin into the ground but was to slow as Herdier crashed into Rocky sending both of them into the ground knocking them both out.

Lenora's words still stung, but the simple envelope in Alice's hands was more than enough to brighten her mood. But no matter how much she wanted to read it, first thing was first.
She had two Pokeballs and two Pokemon in them who needed care
as soon as possible.
The redhead began making her way out of the library, hugging her letter to her chest.
