Guild ripped me off

About 2 weeks ago I left my guild as they weren't doing anything together. In the 6 months I was in them the guild went from level 12 to level 19. There were only about 6 active players and I was doing most of the levelling up. I was then approached by a level 25 guild and asked to join by them. In the week I was with them I went back up to exalted from revered in about 5 days. Quite an achievement I think. I deposited items in the guild vault once I was accepted as a Member. I earned quite a bit of gold for them as well through raids and dungeons. Then suddenly the guild master kicked everyone out and I assume, disbanded the guild. I was gutted to have lost all the gold and items I had put in the vault for the lower level members.
This just doesn't seem fair to me. The guild master didn't say anything. I reckon he emptied the guild vault. If he simply didn't want to be bothered with he he could just have left the guild to run on its own or handed it over to someone else. This wasn't a very large guild but then with over 200 members it wasn't a small one either!

If you feel it was a scam, put in a ticket and have the other guild mates put in tickets too. However, there is a chance that Blizzard will just tell everyone, so sorry, but nothing we can do.
As for going from Revered to Exalted....well, it's technically possible to do it in one day now a days.

Doubt GM will do anything. Even though it's not fair, a guild master can do what they please with their guild.

OP,
"I deposited items in the guild vault once I was accepted as a Member. I earned quite a bit of gold for them as well through raids and dungeons."
Why did you deposit items? Wasn't it so someone else could have them? Well, someone else now has them.
And, in earning quite a bit of gold for them through Raids and Dungeons, you earned quite a bit of gold for yourself too, with their help.
I'm assuming you didn't just add 5K gold or something to the Guild bank.
So, if I were you I'd just move on, and be a bit more hesitant about putting stuff in Guild banks in the future.
Cheers.

I see your points Iankybrit.
But going by your train of thought, if I was held up and robbed of money I was going to put in to a charity's collecting tin I shouldn't be upset or bothered because I was going to give the money away anyway?
Fact is I put those items in the guild vault instead of just selling them to a vendor, was for the use of lower level players and not for some greedy little basket to empty the vault then close the guild down. I am not sure this is what happened, the guild was a level 25 so it took some time to get there.
I mainly joined a guild with so many lower level players so they could invite me to join them in Dungeons and Raids that are no longer available to at level 90 that I skipped over in my rush to level up. Also in the early days I wasn't clued up as to how to act in dungeons and raids and often found myself kicked for not doing enough.
I have gone through as many of the older dungeons as I can as a solo but there are still a few that I need just one other player so I can complete them. I am mainly just after getting as many achievements as I can and rep with the factions as well as helping lower lvl players get through them and get what they wanted. In fact on these lesser dungeons I don't even bother to loot and when an item comes up for roll I always click "don't need" and let the others have it. I only what the rep and the credit for the achievement.

Wrong example. You left the money on a table in a friend's house (or some other meeting point) for that friend or one of their friends to take, and someone took it.
The collecting tin states what the money is supposed to be used for, but the guild bank does not.

A more apt example would be.
You put money in a collection tin for your favorite charity. But then learned that that charity had given all the money to a large corporation in a scam. Yes, you would be miffed, but I doubt you'd be demanding your money back.
Cheers.

Some would be.
Easiest way to avoid this stuff: Start your own guild.

Lessons to take away from here:
Be careful about putting stuff into a guild bank. In fact, you may even want to check bank tab permissions to get an early sign of the type of guild you're dealing with (i.e. if they're all locked, you're probably never getting stuff you deposited back).
Communicate with the GM about this kind of stuff (maybe). Back when I did mass recruiting a lot of people asked me about how the guild bank was handled since I was pretty heavy-handed on permissions. I usually withdrew items for people who needed them and explicitly warned people about putting donations into the guild bank.
If you get "scammed" I'd still attempt to ticket them. I believe that even though the guild bank is technically "owned" by the Guild Master, the Game Masters can easily check records, among other things, to determine whether the behavior is theft with intent or a Guild Master "properly" exercising their privileges.
(You may need to be a little richer to start your own guild. Those bank tab prices GG.)

It isn't really 'fair' or nice, but I don't think it's against the Terms of Service.

I'd recommend not donating items or gold to a guild bank until you've spent a good deal of time with the group. You could also bypass the bank and donate the items specifically to the players.
The only way you can insure that this doesn't happen in the future is to start your own guild. Unless some sort of Shakespearean plot twist lets your noble intentions be twisted by the power. :)
As a fairly casual player (read: no raid team, no PvPing, LOTS of alts and collecting), I'm usually parked into large, mostly anonymous level 25 guilds whose rules almost always boil down to enjoy the perks and don't be a jerk. It's worked out well so far.
