Haste is not a bad thing for Resto druids. It helps all your spells, not just the ones that have cast times. It also reduces global cooldown (min of 1 sec) to allow you to spread out your HoTs more quickly. Which, if you think about it, can allow you to stay outside the 5 second rule for a little bit longer.
But in comparison to MP5 over Haste, I agree that I would prefer MP5.

You can actually start bringing points out of GotEM once you hit various amounts of % haste since the GCD cannot be reduced below 1 second.
To drop to 4 points you'll need >= 20.64% haste.
To drop to 3 points you'll need >= 24.25% haste.
To drop to 2 points you'll need >= 27.54% haste.
To drop to 1 point you'll need >=30.56% haste.
To drop all points you'll need >= 33.33% haste.
GCD = 1.5*(1-(GotE * 0.04))*(%Haste)
Looking at these numbers haste is very very good for you. Up till 20.64% you gain full benefit of haste for HoT stacking and direct healing. And after 20.64% you can start freeing up talent points for elsewhere. Admitedly that much haste will be hard to stack but keep in mind you'll get about 5% from a shammy(WoA) and 3% from a boomkin(Imp. Moon).
