prot PvP, don't expect to kill anything anytime soon
avenger's shield = 600 damage and 6 second daze every 30 seconds... not worth it

killing blow with Avenger's shield?
go with Hammer of Wrath
It's faster, stronger, and you don't have to spec 41 points into prot for it

I have a prot pally and I have attempted pvp with an enhance shammy and I have to say we didn't to do bad in low rank matches. Other then that you might get lucky every once in awhile in a 3v3 and captain america 2 ko's. Kiting while dps takes out the healer is also effective but its all a game of chance. Wether or not your opponent assumes your pally healer and concentrates dps on pally.
As for using a avenger shield in pvp. All I can say from my experience is save that for pulling in pve which is what it was designed for and most of the time does a good job at. Captain America, would be so dissapointed. Although there are times when where it can be fun in pvp. Like in 2v2 if you turn the match quickly into a 2v1 by downing their healer, you can taunt your opponent untill your satisfied and then finish him off with Avenger Shield or the famous Stun + Donkey Punch (Hammer of Wrath) combo, or if your really mean. Death by Concecration.
also like to add, Avenger Shield does slow your opponent down. Great for splitting your opponents up.
