Marks is good personal DPS at the expense of much pet utility and longevity. It's bees knees for PvP, if I understand right. Survival is supposed to be our utility spec, with lots of tricks to keep you going, however, it has tended to require more gear than the other two specs and tend to be for people who are top end and know the class intrinsically well.

BM is best for levelling, MM for DPS at 80. Check the hunter forums for more info
